Venting.............

I awoke this morning with a bellyache, but my 'medical taxi' service was needed.  As you know Eldersis came home yesterday, and I had already bought cotton satin sheets and washed them to put on her bed.  I took them over there, and there were lots of other things that needed doing, so that she could manage to take care of herself.  There are a lot of don'ts for her to follow; of course, she can't drive, so I was needed to take her to the Dr.  That trip grew and grew, because there was medicine to pickup at the pharmacy, groceries that needed buying, and a trip to the bank.  This took all day long.

DH got a call from the Dermatologist before we left home, and he has to go back for more Mohs surgery for a basal cell carcinoma on his face on Monday.  Well, Eldersis already had another appointment with another Dr. (the surgeon) on Monday.  Luckily, hers is at 10:50 and DH's is at 1:15, but they are on the other side of town.  I'll bet it's going to be a tough day!  I'm so tired my eyes are crossed right now, and that was only one Dr. appointment.  I'm not eating at my usual times, and forget the 'snacks' that I usually get at home.  My bg is already getting messed up.  At this point, I'm thinking that if I can just stay within the boundaries I'll be OK.  Times won't be all that important....I hope.  I can see this lasting about 6 months at least.

Drs. put Eldersis on Cumadin, and she has a whole list of all the green vegetables that she can't eat, which are the main staples of the diabetic diet.  Wow, I don't know what we're going to do about that!

Pardon the vent, but it helps me to put it on the screen.

2sweet02,

It is tough being the home health nurse isn't it! Been there recently!. I think the reason that my A1C was down was all the work that I have been having to do to keep hubby home. But he is getting better and the load is lessening. I was hoping to get a way for a few days in November but he is now going into cardiac rehab three days a week so that idea is out the window.

I know she can't have broccoli, kale and collards. What else can't she have? I bet she will get tired of green beans!

It is okay to vent and try as best you can to find a way to take care of yourself. At this point you are the glue that is holding this all together.
