New to Diab. Drugs!?

Ok - since my wake up fasting scores are fine ----
I'm told this makes a diff. as to the type of meds to take.
It is what I EAT that - may potentially show that my panc. is having a hard time.
Of course - it is up to my doc ----
but = knowing this, I might like to read up on drugs ahead of time ----
What - with your, sorry, unprofessional opinion ----
would be my drug of choice - or can you say?
Of course, it'll be my doc who decides - but I wanna get educated --get an IDEA of what might be right...... ?

Here is the recommended algorithm for management of type 2 diabetes by the American Diabetes Association.
Diagnosis------->Lifestyle changes (exercise and medical nutritional therapy) and metformin--------->if A1C is above 7 add sulfonylurea------------> if A1C continues above 7 add actos or avandia-----------> if A1C remains above 7 add basal insulin or intensify insulin (use short acting insulin).
There are many new drugs on the market now but this is the current recommendation. I think the reason the new drugs aren't included is because they are so expensive and a lot of diabetics can't afford them plus there are problems becoming more evident which each of them. In diabetics you can see problems with new drugs up to a year after diabetics are started on them.
Cool info - I like the flowchart type style. I wonder if the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists has a different process...I know their glucose and A1C guidelines are different (for example, where the ADA uses 7.0 as the upper limit on A1C, the endo guidelines use 6.5)
