Meter Testing Questions?

Who has the Freestyle Freedom Lite meter?
That's what the doc gave me ---
I assume I get the test strips at any store?

Also - Just a question about TESTING?

My Endo said ---- at EACH testing - I should also use an alcohol wipe AND wipe off the initial drop of blood that comes thru ---- to use the 2ND drop instead.

Do you all have to do this?

It seems so CUMBERSOME! It's hard enough to change the lancet as it is!

Do you all change the lancet every single time?????

How often do you find you must use the control solution?????

I always test when I open a new bottle of strips and then any time the reading looks really off.

You are supposed to change the lancet everytime but frequently diabetics don't do this. Many don't change until the lancet become dull. I personally don't use alcohol sponges. All it does is remove the dirt from your fingers and washing your hands is just as effective. I do have some and if I am going to be where I can't wash my hands I will use them. Make sure you

Colleen,

All meters need control solution. It is just that the newer meters don't need to be calibrated with each bottle of strips. If you don't have any control solution you need to call Lifescan people and ask them to send you some. I could be wrong but I think you meter is amde by Lifescan. Look on the paperwork with your meter or on the back to the meter for the phone number. Sometimes you can contact them

I had so much trouble remembering to change my lancets, I went to the Accu-Check Multiclix lancet with my Freestyle Lite Meter, my doctor now writes a prescription for those little drums that I just drop in when the other is used and discarded.

I think alcohol can change your readings.
