We had a Dr. appointment on Thursday; the nurse called me on Fri. morning to let me know that my A1c was 5.6!  That surprised me, because I had a few days that I wasn't happy about.

DH wasn't exactly planning to go for a check-up himself, but I called the Dr's. office and asked if they could see us both.  I distinctly remembered him complaining at least three times about 'chest pain'.  I thought that shouldn't go un-noticed.  They did an EKG, and have him scheduled for a Thallium Stress test.  He isn't exactly happy about what I got him into, but that beats being hauled to the hospital in an ambulance one night.  I don't know what the Dr. saw on the EKG strip, but he gave an Rx for Nitroglycerine to get 'just in case'.

I don't need a stress test...I'm in one.

Twosweet02,

Congratulations on your wonderful A1C. You done good girl!!

When is hubby supposed to have his thallium test done? I hope it is after Christmas.

Abby has an appointment to see the vet on Tuesday about her rectal bleeding. I hope nothing serious is wrong with this kitty. I hope she is just reacting to her food. Please keep your fingers crossed. She seems absolutely normal in all other ways. I took her outside yesterday in my arms. She was absolutely terrified and cold. She has a house coat, not an outdoor coat. I just wanted to remind her how good she has it by staying in the house 24/7!!

Please let us know how hubby does.

I do my A1C in January so I have nothing to report but I do have a cat comment.....

She is shedding all over the place and it's not just single hairs, it's big tufts.

Colleen,

Cat shed all year around from my experience with these critters. I would worry about her shedding huge clumps now. Do you take her for her annual check up? I am sure it is possible that she has an allergry. Hopefully twosweet02 will chime in since she is the wife of a vet and has seen the care of these and other animals for many years.

Abby has an indoor coat which is decidedly lighter than if she

It isn't normal for you to see patches of hair gone; normal hair loss is generalized and shouldn't be all that noticeable, or in clumps.

Must say that reminds me of some of our dogs who had problems with those very glands!!

DH used to teach people how to express anal glands, if they were willing to learn.

Twosweet02,

I am aware of anal glands in dogs but not in cats. She has actually been quite playful the past couple of days and acts like she feels better. This is a cat that has a thing about threads and needles if they are attached! I am hoping that she didn't get into some thread. Hubby isn't good about checking the box. She doesn't go everyday which surprised me and I wondered if it was from straining. She only eats dry food and not as much as she is supposed to eat. I think she eats about 250 calories per day. I checked the box yesterday and didn't see any blood.

I'll let you know what the vet has to say.

In the meantime I am glad to read that DH test went well with good results. These new tests are amazing. I couldn't have any caffeine for 24 hours before my test and that was really hard even though I don't drink coffee. I had an agiotensin walk test done and I had to eat a high fat meal afterwards. I don't eat two fried eggs, 4 slices of really good bacon, fried potatoes and buttered toast! For some reason if you don't have enough fats the test doesn't turn out right. I was sure they going to give me a gall bladder attack!
