Hi, my name is Yvonne and I was just diagnosed the day before yesterday with Diabetes II. I'm scared to death of "diabetes" and in addition I have Fibromyalgia and 8 ruptured discs from my cervical spine to my lumbar. You could say that I feel like I'm falling apart and I'm only 43.
I've been reading materials on Diabetes and it seems a little less scary, but not much. I'm glad that I've found this message board - I need the support and the education that you guys might be able to help me with.
Thanks for being here and I hope to meet a lot of supportive people who can help me cope by sharing your own stories and remedies.
Thanks...and I look forward to getting to meet some of you.
Yvonne

I am a fairly new diagnosed type 1 diabetic. I am on Lantus and Apidrea. Does anyone know if the side effects to either of these insulins, is severe pain in my upper thighs and stomach? I sometime have pain so bad that I want to cry. I sure hope someone knows something that might help me.

Hi Laney,
I just saw your post and I would like to ask you some questions. I was just diagnosed as a type 1 and have been on lantus for 3 months. I'm also on Apedra before each meal. I am experiencing severe pain in my thighs and stomach. It is so bad, I want to cry ( and I am a 54 year old adult male!). Did you have any symptons like this or have you heard of anyone experiencing anything like this? I am at my wits end to get the pain under control.

Hi,
I have been on Lantus for probably 4 years and I don't experience any pain with it.
I use the BD insulin syringes with ultra fine needles. The have a 31G gauge. I do not think it is the syringe, but I do think it has something to do with the insulin. My doctor took a lot of blood tests and I am waiting for the results.

You use the same ones that I use. I hope you will let me know what your doctor tells you. This has me puzzled also.
I hope this calms down for you real soon,
I got the results of my blood tests and everything looked fine. I went to a new doctor, and they lowered the number of units I'm to take (and only 1 shot a day not two). She also gave me a new medication for the itchyness and one for the pain in my stomach. I started taking them yesterday and my wife says that I appear to be walking better than I was. I sure hope these meds help and I get over it soon.
Good luck and let us know how you do. We are here to support you and your wife in any way that we can.
