Hi all!

So glad to find you. I hope I dont barge in to much here!

I went to the doc yesterday becuase of chest pain that was on and off terribly since Sunday. I was awaken by the pain (right front and shoulder pain) and sat up right out of bed from it. Since I have 4 young children under the age of 8 to 19 months and a waonderful DH, I started to think maybe I should go to the doc...thinking I may have a heart issue. I would hate to be stuck in the bed! I have to go to work, and be a mom and help run my hubbys business!

I went to the doc, told him my probs, to include that I felt like I was pregnant again (sick on and off) althought I know thats not possible since I just had my "time of the month" AND I have a tubal ligation. Anyway, he pokes around and "ouch" under my ribs. He wants to take all the precautions, so we do an EKG and chest XRAY. They looked good (lungs are large but he thinks that is from my running). He runs blood work and orders a HIDA Scan.

My question is,.....what do I expect with the scan?

And , do you think we are on the right track, or is this all in my head!

Funny part about it all is that I had never been to a "family doc" in over 10 years, but decided that since we were done running to the OB, I better get me a PCP. I had an appt 2 weeks prior (have vericose veins that kill me), so it was good to have a doc to call!

Thank you and I appreciate it if you have made it this far!

Thank you for the response! I dont want to think I am gettting older or more troublesome! I never want to get old!

I forgot to mention, he told me I had a positive Murphys Sign (whatever that is).

Thanks again!

Dawn

PS What should I expect at the HIDA scan?

Hi Lynn,

Thank you so much for the response. I unfortunatly went in Thursday afternoon for the scan and found out the details then. It was weird to hear that you have nuclear material in you! It was everything you described, but when they injected the other stuff after an hour, it truly made me feel realllllly ill. I was white as a ghost for an hour after I left. It went away though.

I saw a computer screen with some of the images as it was happening. A tech came in and looked at anouthe screen (there were three computers there with difrerent image types) and they typed and did his thing, once he said 'oh my whats that". That really was all. I was asked if I had another test to go to (which I didnt). When I was done I got up and left. No one said "looks good" or anything. Just showed me the way to the exit. Now I get to wait over the weekend to probably find out monday that there is nothing wrong with me! haha. I feel stupid going to the doc when it is nothing. We shall see whenver the doc calls back.

Thank you again for responding! I appreciate the help!

You have a great weekend too!

Dear Dawn, I am amazed that the technician or whatever , who was doing your test made such a comment as "Oh my, what's that?" for you to hear. Having said that he/she ought to have explained since you obviously heard it. I realize they couldn't give a diagnosis. That is for the doctor to do on Monday. However some general remark to relieve your anxiety would have been in order. I pray that you will have the good news you expect on Monday. And if there is something wrong, that you will find out what to do about it. Ruth

Hi ladies!

I am so touched by everyones responses! I had a great weekend with our 4 wonderful kids. Gosh, life is a wild ride with 4 under the age of 8 (19mos, 22 mos, 3.5, 7.5). We are so blessed.

I got the call this am, the lab results were fine, but the HIDA scan showed chronic gall bladder disease. Whatever that means. The nurse who called me wasnt much help when I asked questions. I have an U/S scheduled for Wed and a appt with the surgeon for whatever he wants to do. I am kind of bothered that I dont know more, or if to worry, or just go with the flow. I am a healthy 39 year old, I run and work out, I am healthy (the only probs have been being pregnant! haha) 5 ft 8 inches anad a size 8/10.

Thank you again ladies!
