So glad to find you. I hope I dont barge in to much here!
I went to the doc yesterday becuase of chest pain that was on and off terribly since Sunday. I was awaken by the pain (right front and shoulder pain) and sat up right out of bed from it. Since I have 4 young children under the age of 8 to 19 months and a waonderful DH, I started to think maybe I should go to the doc...thinking I may have a heart issue. I would hate to be stuck in the bed! I have to go to work, and be a mom and help run my hubbys business!
I went to the doc, told him my probs, to include that I felt like I was pregnant again (sick on and off) althought I know thats not possible since I just had my "time of the month" AND I have a tubal ligation. Anyway, he pokes around and "ouch" under my ribs. He wants to take all the precautions, so we do an EKG and chest XRAY. They looked good (lungs are large but he thinks that is from my running). He runs blood work and orders a HIDA Scan.
My question is,.....what do I expect with the scan?
And , do you think we are on the right track, or is this all in my head!
Funny part about it all is that I had never been to a "family doc" in over 10 years, but decided that since we were done running to the OB, I better get me a PCP. I had an appt 2 weeks prior (have vericose veins that kill me), so it was good to have a doc to call!
Thank you and I appreciate it if you have made it this far!

Dawn,
Thank you Wren!

PS I think I will do that to all 4 kids tonight and my hubby too when I get home. You are SO right!
Hi Dawn - Living with chronic pain (ie. pain all day long) is not a sign of 'old age' - it is a sign that there is something wrong. You are 39, not over weight and in good physical condition. (which is most than most of us can say - myself included!)
If the GB is diseased and not working 100% *and* you are experiencing pain
Can you all tell I am at a computer right now? LOL I have taken a couple of hours off so that my hubby can get the lawn mowed (not enought hours in a day on the weekend!)
YOu said so much,,,,, and I was thinking the same thing. It would appear to me that if it plagues me daily (and you are right, we tend to just tough it out) well, like you said, I guess there is something. I asked that the test results be mailed to me to see what we are talking about (50%,70z% etc.).
My mom is ecstatic that the surgeon did not want to take it out (she is not a fan of surgeons). She wants me to take more Vitamin C to help .
My concern is, yes, I can live with it w/out problem. But will it get worst? Will it turn into something bad? can I get ill from this over time? I am not asking you to answer all this (I ramble on) but I LOVE any input your experience could chime in with! Please feel free to tell me like it is!
I hope the tiredness goes away, I spend a lot of my day on the road, and I have never expereinced the feeling of "falling asleep at the wheel" until lately. Drives me nutso! I feel so lazy!
Thanks again Jo! This board has been so comforting!

I got a copy of my lab results, all the blood work was ok, the U/S showed no gallstones, 12.8cm and 12.4 cm kidneys (whatever that may mean), and the HIDA scan showed no gall baldder emptying, no acute cholecystitis. and an ejection fraction of 1%.
Should I worry?
