My friend just had a gallstone. They removed it and they also removed her gallstone bladder, and she is still having bad adominal pains, the doctors said that she has more gallstones (alot of them) but i dont understand how she can have alot of gallstones when she dont even have a gallstone bladder, she told the doctor that couldnt be it so now she is seeing a bunch of specialist and nobody can find out what is wrong. Does anybody have an idea whats going on? Or did someone experience this? i really need to know some information on this i cant find any HELP!!!!!!!!

The really severe pain has stopped. I found out it was caused by the Zithromax! When your pain increases always question the meds you are on!!! I went on the internet and found out one of the side effects of this drug is abdominal pains, which I had in the first place! Now he tells me I have a spastic colon, which I found out is IBS. Can you have this if you,ve never had diarrhea, vomiting, nausea or blood in your stools? This is just dull to sharp pains right under my breasts radiating to the right side and down my right abd. He gave me Zelnorm, which doesn,t do much. Oh! He did do an Endoscopy, which only showed some inflammation in my stomach and esophagus and some small ulcers. I think its just the ulcer and the inflammation. This all started about 3 weeks ago with abd. cramping when I would eat anything.

Dear Ladyret, Another avenue is to also check your otc. meds. However, it sounds like you are on the right track now. I will avoid Zithromax. Am not taking any prescription meds now, and hope not to. My LDL cholesterol came back high at 178. My doctor is talking about having me take cholesterol lowering drug, hasn't said which one. I am not inclined to do this. I do have burning pain across my upper abdomen. That is much of the time, but getting less as I experiment with a celiac diet. Haven't been diagnosed with this, but have had digestive troubles since early childhood. Was diagnosed with ibs Constipation oriented in the 70's. I had an upper endoscopic exam like you. Mine was prior to having gallbladder surgery. It showed only slight irritation and no ulcers or tumors. The Dr. said I could take antacids or not, as I choose. I don't take them as I took many kinds, prescription and non prescription for fairly long periods of time. None of them helped consistently. It sounds like you may need some, at least until your ulcers heal. Back to IBS. I do not have diarrhea in the way one usually thinks of it. I will not have a sstool for a few days, then begin to pass hard little lumps. I usually take something to get things going, like Milk of Mag, Mineral oil, stool softener (colace). Then I have lots of stools in one day. I would just let nature take its course, except the hard stools cause grief in my upper ab with the pressure and also in my rectum. There is no blood in my stools except when I pass an extra large piece of hard stool. There is an ibs board on i village and also a separate one at www.ibsgroup.org. Hope things continue to improve for you. Ruth (Strack2004)

Hi Ruth! He does have me on Zelnorm, which doesn,t do a whole lot. I find that Pepto Bismol helps the most. Its just the pain that seems to be originating right above my liver on my right side that bothers me the most. What really upset me is when he made a passing comment about a bowel obstruction,(I,m a retired nurse) and he didn,t even check me for bowel sounds! I did it myself when I got home. They are slower, but I figured the Zelnorm was doing that. I,m so at a loss about all this because I have NEVER had anything wrong with my stomach in my life, except for having my GB out when I was a young mother.

Deara Ladyret, It has been some while, I see, since I checked my past posts! I tried Zelnorm also, without any real success. During the month I took it I had 4 normal stools, 2 close to the start and 2 at the end. My doctor didn't encourage me to go on. It's expensive! Now I have been on my celiac diet (SCD) for 3 months. I have more energy and sleep better, but my digestive troubles remain except they tend more toward loose bowels rather than constipation, with the exception of yesterday and day before when I went back to tiny little very hard lumps of stool. I took a tablespoon of mineral oil by mouth last night and a Fleet oil enema last night which produced results this morning. I am also starting a new medication (OTC), Provex C from a company called Melaleuca. This is a combination of grapeseed extract, and aabout 4 more things. I have only used it for 3 days and am starting with lowdose of 1 tab. Should take 1 with each meal. The upper burning under rt. ribcage continues unabated so Dr ordered an ultrasound which I had yesterday. Will see how that turns out. This was of liver, pancreas, spleen , aorta. Dr. is also suggesting I may be having trouble with adhesions. I have had appendectomy, and hysterectomy and now gall bladder all involving center to right side of ab. The left side of my abdomen doesn't bother me. Hope you are still reading. Cheers, Ruth
