strange symptom...

Ever since after my first pregnancy, I have this wierd thing going on intermittently, but it's gotten constant now. When I lay down to go to sleep at night, my stomach muscles contract, like one side will go real hard and push up, then maybe the top part near my ribs will take a turn, then the other side, etc. I just get these bulges that come and go, and I can also feel my heartbeat A LOT in my belly. It doesn't hurt at all. It almost feels like Braxton Hicks contractions when you're pregnant, except of course, I am not pregnant, and it isn't the full belly tightening at once.
I should probably also tell you that I have a slight umbilical hernia (I have 2 sets of twins, after all...) and my abdominal muscles are separated.
Any ideas???? I've searched the internet and couldn't find anything. Thanks!
