Today is my first day back at work after open gallbladder surgery! I've been home on medical leave for 6 weeks!
My surgery was supposed to be a quick laprascopic surgery and I was supposed to be home that day, etc etc, but when they went it, they were shocked at how packed with stones my GB was! They had to open and I ended up in ICU for 3 days, the hospital for 4 more, and then was sent home with a T-tube and a bag collecting bile hanging from me. It was not fun!
Well, my question is, has anyone else here had open GB surgery and what was their post-op experience? My surgeon is supposed to remove my t-tube in 2 days, so I'm very excited about that, but in the past few days, I've experienced some nausea, some fever (but below 100). A couple of days ago, I had a large omelet for lunch and it simply didn't agree with me, and I vomited, so I hope the two were related.
Enough about the gory details! If anyone has had similar experiences, I'd like to hear about them!
Thanks!
