Yup, it's time for another colonoscopy for me...Because GoLytley made me very sick to my stomach last time, this time my doctor is having me use Fleet Phospho-Soda (ingested, not an enema). Any insider tips from folks who have used this before? Can I expect the same level of discomfort as with GoLytley (i.e., should I plan on spending a day in the bathroom)? I heard from a friend that it's easier to take it in one shot, undiluted, rather than diluted in soda/pop as the directions suggest. Any experiences with this? Any tips would be appreciated!

I just had it done a couple of weeks ago and used the Fleet stuff, and the advice I'd give is mix it with nothing BUT plain old water. It's tough to get all the liquid down as it is, you get sooooo waterlogged so quickly that you can get very queasy and swear you are about to throw up the entire city of Toledo all in one horrid gush - it gets to where you think if you take one more sip, you'll upchuck. But you have to somehow overcome that and hold it in so it goes out the right end. Not so easy! I tried mixing it with diet ginger ale, but even though it has no calories, the mixture made it taste somehow "rich" and it didn't go down nearly as well as the second round of it, which I just mixed with water. So don't use juice or liquid with calories in it, that HAS to make you feel much, much fuller than plain old water. Everybody says the prep is the worst part, I agree.

First time I had to get cleaned out was for a surgery, and I had to drink a full gallon of the most horrid tasting stuff - it CAME in a big gallon jug, there was no mixing it in a small amount of water and then drinking lots of plain water afterward, the entire gallon tasted very salty but lemony or something, I was ready to gag near the end. Much worse than the Fleet stuff!
