Severe IBS w/Diahreah

Hi, I am new to this board. I have suffered from IBS for about the last 13 years. Each year, it gets worse. It was significantly worse through my pregnancies, to the point of becoming dehydrated on different occassions, despite constant water drinking. I have lived on Imodium, sometimes 3 a day. I have tried Symax and Flagl with not much success.

It usually goes in cycles, but lately, I have it constantly, even though I am eating practically nothing. I cant go anywhere, certainly cant go out to eat, I know where every restroom in every public place is. I dont go places that dont have restrooms. I keep Imodium in my purse, house, car, and classroom. I have cut out all dairy (which isnt good for you) all spicy foods, all caffiene....

For the last 7 days, I have basically had crackers, dry cereal, a baked potato and water.

I have spoken to my reg dr numerous times. I am waiting on a referral to the gastrointernalist, but I dont have much hope.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joy

I believe that I have IBS (although I have never actually been diagnosed with it). My symptoms sound so much like yours. You said that you have sufferred for a long time and even worse during your pregnancies. I am currently pregnant and wanted to know if there were any medications that you got the okay to take while being pregnant for your symptoms. I am desperate myself. I do see a GI dr (and have seen many) and have had many tests done. I've been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and had my gallbladder removed, but none of this had helped. Please let me know any thoughts/input you have as I am struggling to put on weight during this pregnancy due to the constant "D". Take care,
