I have some pretty embarrasing questions, so try not to laugh. When I eat food, any kind of food, I feel as if my stomach is going to explode!! I have real bad smelling gas and it is hard to pass the gas, I have to strain to let the gas out. At night I wake up and my back is hurting real bad, and its real stiff. Also at night I wake up and my stomach hurts also. Any suggestions would be great. I have read some articles and could it be stress related.

Hi, Sweetexan! What kinds of foods do you eat? I know, that for me, prunes cause horrific smelling gas, likewise any sulphur containing foods. I can't think of any more right now. How are your bowel movements? Don't worry about posting "embarrassing stuff" . A great deal of what is posted here would be embarrassing in "polite company". This board is to help people. Did this gas problem start recently or has it been going on for a long time? I still have gas, but not as much as I used to have and not as strong an odor. I am using a celiac diet, although I have not been tested to have celiac disease. (You are not able to digest wheat, barley or rye properly if you have celiac. I have gone on the diet because it seems to be a healthy one. To learn more about celiac, go to www. celiac.com, or to the celiac message board on ivillage. Have you ever been tested to see if you are lactose intolerant? Not able to handle milk and milk products? I have that problem. It sounds like it would be a good idea to go to a doctor for an evaluation. Another approach is to keep a journal of the foods you eat. Try not eating one of them for awhile and see if the gas problem improves. If things aren't better, try another food, especially try foods you eat regularly. Cheers!Ruth

I have tried all different foods. It just started about a month ago when I really noticed it. Also when I wake up in the mornings my back hurts real bad and it has a stiff feeling.

Hi - Ruth gave you some really good advice - and your condition is likely not new to anyone reading messages on the board - but certainly not something you'd discuss with your co-workers at lunch.

I have some similar symptoms when I eat eggs or dairy (bloating, foul gas, and running to the bathroom). I can tollerate small amounts of dairy from time to time (not every day - maybe
