Problem following GB surgery-help!

I had my GB removed 8/2/04 and two weeks later I had reoccurring problem. If I don't eat something, anything in a 4 hour time span, I get a hunger pain which immediately progresses to a severe adominal pain. I find if I eat anything the pain is gone within five minutes. It also can occur if I don't eat anything before I go to bed, I am rudely awoken in the early am clammering for something to eat. This has never happened prior to the surgery and the surgeon says it is not related. Has anyone else experienced this?

I too just had my gall bladder removed, back in may, but I don't think I had that happen to me. I do remember that there for awhile, like, a few weeks after the surgery, I had to keep myself on a strict eating routine, like the whole breakfast/lunch/dinner, with a snack inbetween lunch and dinner, and a snack before i go to bed.

But all I can do is ask you if you've covered all the basics, like:

-are you drinking enought water? Because not having enought water can make you have stomach pains.

-have you tried eating just one teaspoon of peanut butter before going to bed? It takes longer to digest(for anyone), but I wouldn't do it every night, because unfortunetly, peanut butter is very fattening.

I can't really think of anything else to give ya, but I hope this helps!

Take care, and I feel for ya! (this diet sucks!)

Mystic5, I had my gallbladder removed last Feb. 3rd. Continue to have under center right ribcage burning which extends across upper abdomen and goes to right shoulder blade also up esophagus just like I had before surgery. Yesterday I had an ultrasound of my upper abdomen. Will see by end of week or so what that shows. I am currently on a celiac diet, have been for 3 months. I do have strong hunger sensation if I don't eat on time which I don't remember having before. I think this is more associated with the diet than with the surgery, though. So far main benefits of diet are improved energy and sleep, but I am told that digestive improvement may take alot more time. Cheers, Ruth
