Im new to this website. And like most others still looking for answers. I had h-pylor about a year ago and was on antibiotic therapy to kill the infection. Well a year later I have had to use the bathroom like 10 or more times a day. Finally went to the doctor and he ran a serious of test. Well I tested postive for clostridium difficile Toxin. When I was on the antibiotic therapy it killed not only the bad bacteria It killed the good bacteria in my body and produced a toxin know as c-Diff. Well was treated for it will 10 course of Flagyl and then anther 10 day course of flagyl. Got rid of it finally . But know I have Ibs systoms and It really sucks. Still running to the bathroom once in awhile. I get cramps really bad on some days. Still scared to go into public much I need to make sure there is a bathroom and more than on toilet..

On Bently for the cramps. And i have to really watch what I eat. If I eat heavy foods I start getting bloated and gassy really bad and my stomach hurts. and of course some days feeling like I have the flu and running to the bathroom. If I stick to bananas and applesause and yogurt, and toast and canned chicken I am doing better. But then my stomach hurts from not eating and i am hungry and seems the acid build up is eating my stomach away. My doctor said it would not hurt me to lose some weight so if that what it takes to eat what I said above then do it. Plus the Bently pills make me dehydrated so I have to drink extra water in which case is not helping much .Lost 10 pounds in less than a week from becoming dehydrated. Does any one else experince this and could help me balance this stupid thing out. and what to do about the fear when going out. I know it is just nerves and I start to cramp up but there is something I could do to help..

I get it if go somewhere I don't eat anything and I take imodium just to make it thru the day. and then I am sick from not eating. This really sucks. I had colonoscopy done and nothing wrong there. so doctor said IBS and don't like it.

I think that the fact that you had this infection in your digestive tract is pointing you in the right direction to clear your IBS. When you kill off the good bacteria, all kinds of bad bacteria and yeast are able to thrive. The Flagyl you took was only targeting a certain bacteria/yeast. There may still be others in your system that are causing your symptoms. Try taking a good probiotic supplement for a while and see if that helps. It will replenish the good bacteria in your digestive tract. Also, you may want to do a search for intestinal yeast and bacteria to get some more information about this. Good luck!

Yes I have been told that from other people but one says I should take this one or that one I have no ides which one is best. Some people tell me I shouldn't take it when I am taking the bentyl. I am also in the c-diff support group. I don't know which one I should take. My sister-n-law (a nurse) is coming for a visit so I thought I would talk to her about it and see what she feels would be right for me. If I can replenish the good bacteria do you think I could be normal again. My doctor that I have been seeing said the IBS could be tempory but my primary doctor said the IBS could be there for the rest of my life. I get so confused... I have had the colonoscopy and everything looked fine there. so that is why he said little IBS from the c-diff till my body heals. I was told to eat the yogurt it has good stuff to put good flora back into my body but I used to love eating yogurt but know It is really getting old...Thanks I will see about getting some of the probiotic and see if it helps. Also I heard there good to take if I have to take antibotics again. cause taking them could bring the toxin c-diff back..

Thanks

my doctor did a full blood and stool work up on my when I first went to him and the c-diff is what came back postive. and the colonoscopy came back normal. I have been keeping track of what I eat. The problem so much isn't the diarrhea its still the cramps and all the bloating and gas when I do eat something. But if i stick to the light stuff then I am okay. I Still have have the diarrhea once in awhile, it has been 1 1/2 weeks since my last time So I praying it was the last since I started watching what I am eating. I am doing a full blood work up again tuesday for our health fair. To see everyting is still okay. so hope everything checks out okay. I will check the sites out you have and thanks for the advice. I think I am getting better. like you said STRESS I know that alot of my fear thing of going places.. its nerves if I can over come that I know things will get better...

Thanks
