Hi, I was wondering if anyone suffering from IBS also has joint problems, specifically the hip, pubic bone area? After a bout of diah I cant stand up or walk I have to lay down with heating pad because the pain is so bad, but I dont know if it is my intestines inflammed or my bones (back also) Any help would be appreciated!! This has been going on for years, and I am told to just take the antispasmodic, but it only makes me tired, and does not take the pain away.

Thanks Peg

They think I have IBS (scheduled all the "oscopies" today). I get pain there pretty bad and on the back of my hips too. I also have some wierd gyno stuff going on (been bleeding since June) and I've wondered if that pain was from my gut stuff or girlie stuff. I personally think it's my gut. My doc put me on Arthrotec for it. It's an NSAID. It seems to help quite a bit and it's made not to irritate your stomach. It has a prostglandin in it that makes your stomach coat itself when you take it. I don't know if this has helped at all but I can definitely relate. Keep your chin up (and your feet too).

I haven't had them done yet, just scheduled. Keep you posted when I do. The girls stuff has been frusterating and wierd. It seems to be connected to the digestive stuff but no one in the medical community seems to think so. I wrote a montster post on the gyno board site, I think I'm going to do the same here. Please read it if you're interested. I've met a lot of women lately who seem to have this gyno-digestive combo of problems and nobody seems to have any answers. A bunch of us are trying to find other women going through the same thing. Maybe it's a disorder that no one has looked at yet because they are separate systems. I say, ask any women if her digestive system short circuts during her period and I would say 90% would say yes. So if it happens then, I would like someone to prove to me that there isn't some connection and the potential for a disorder that causes symptoms with both systems. I just refuse to believe that in the (only) 20-30 yrs. that research in women's health issues has really seriously been done they could have found all of the disorders that are specific to women and all of the tests and treatments for them. Sorry about the soap box. One of the girls that I know of here ended up killing herself in February because she was sick of living this way. I don't ever want to hear of any other women getting to that point. Oh, there are two posts that I put up (mystery syndrome and clarification/revolution). And lastly, how can i make my e-mail address available to anyone else going through this? Is that allowed? (I'm new to this whole thing.)

Thanks,

Meg

Hey Meg,

Yes, I agree digestive problems and women's disorders go hand in hand or so they seem.

Hi Meg,

Wren is right, MDs are terrified of litigation and will cover their you-know-what to protect themselves. I know many women who have digestive problems during their periods, and have so for years. Yet, no doctor I have ever seen has an answer for this. In fact, some will say it is unrelated, but often that is not the case at all. Hip pain or thereabouts can also be inflamation of the intestine. I get lower back pain frequently when I have my period and sometimes pain on the far. far left side (almost to the hip) when I have an inflamation of the intestine. Wren is right, Dr. Northrup's book is highly recommended.
