Dear Cindy April, I do the same thing , lately quite often. I use t paper over my finger and some vaseline . I have had many tests done on my stomach and bowel over my 76 years. I don't seem to be any the worse for it. I have sometimes worried about cancer like you do. The tests relieve the worry . I don't think that they necessarily prove one doesn't have cancer for sure, that would be asking alot. The tests and the people who do them aren't perfect, But the Lord does know all things and even if we get cancer we can trust him to help us through it. Hope this is a help to you. Ruth

my dads mom and dad both died of cancer, not colon cancer.

i am on a colon cleanse i started today.

what could the tiny bump in my anus be that i felt?

does the dr send you in for a colon test ,or do they do a rectal exam and can tell from that?

It sounds as if that little knot might just be a hemmoroid. Please! Stop digging in your rectum! You need more fiber and if you can,t get it in your diet, then you need to take fibercon or some other kind of over the counter fiber supplements. If your really freaked about the knot you feel, have your doctor schedule a Colonoscopy. This is a test done on an outpatient basis at a hospital. They will give you a special package called a Prep Kit to use a few days before you have to take the test. Its usually a gallon jug of a liquid you have to drink over a certain period of time, a liquid diet the day before and 2 or 3 laxative pills to take the night before the test. If you have any questions, ask your doctor OK? Good luck! If you want more details about how the test is done, you can email me.

Cindyapril, I,too, think you ought to see a doctor to be sure why you are having such troubles. I have similar troubles, as I said before, have been to many doctors without relief. I did have surgery at one time to strengthen the area between the rectum and vagina. That helped for a few years. Things have slackened up again, however. The doctor is not encouraging me to have surgery again. I probably haven't told him that I dig out stool manually, but I guess I don't know what else to do. I have had stuff pile up in there in hard little knobs. I can't go to the emergency room and get it dug out by the nurses every time. Putting much pressure on that area also presses upward on my upper belly and that isn't good, either. It makes the burning pain I get in the upper area worse. You have said that your stools are actually soft. Mine are that way, too, sometimes. Sometimes they come out part way and I can't seem to get any farther. I find myself wondering if you are young or elderly like me. If you have had children? Childbirth can get muscles kind of loose down there, especially if one doesn't do exercises to get the muscles back into shape. I didn't. I am doing some now. I do sit-ups in my bathtub which has the faucets coming from the wall just above the tub itself. I hook my feet under the faucets and do the sit-ups that way. Cheers, Ruth

As far as constipation, buy some benefiber (or any fiber) and put it in your drinks. Also - drink lots of water. I drink a gallon a day, take fiber twice a day and take stool softner - one in the morning, one at night.

I am sure you just have a fear of cancer and it's nothing serious...but you should check it out.

God bless!
