New CD Patient - Stomach cramping

Hello. I am new to this so I hope I am doing this right. I was diagnosed with CD about 2 months ago. I have been taking PENTASA and Flagyl. But over the last two days my stomach pain has come back like before I started the meds. Any ideas what the problem might be? Stress, eating habits?

Dennis, By CD do you mean Celiac Disease, or somethings else? I suspect you mean something else since Celiac is treated by a diet, not by flagyl or pentasa. Ruth

No I am sorry, Crohn's Disease. My Dr's nurse said they would call me in something today and didn't. I have a follow up appt with my dr next thursday. My cramping is horrible, but for the amt of medicine I am taking I don't think it should be there. This is the first time it has been back since I started taking the meds a few months ago. I am just worried it may be a blockage or something. Thanks for the reply.

My Dr just prescribed prednisone for the cramping, said it is for inflamation, this makes me nervous. I am reading the book right now like you suggested. It says there are alot of complications. Do you have any experience with this medicine? Should I be nervous. I am already taking so many pills a day. I am afraid it is bad if I am already haveing to take a steroid. Help me someone. I need some words of wisdom. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I am taking two 10 mg tablets every morning. I have 60 in my bottle and 1 refill. I am hoping I will not experience alot of the side effects since I am on a low dose. Thanks for your kind words. I too am taking over 20 pills a day and it is frustrating sometimes. I feel really bad when I miss a dose. But like you said, day to day. I already am feeling better and have only been taking it for 3 days!!! I see my Dr next thursday (11/4) and I will keep you posted.

Dennis,

You probably won't experience much side effects on 20 mg.
