Salmonella causing Lactose sensitivities

I had a long, and fairly serious, bout of Salmonella a few years ago. I ended up on Cipro because it was SO bad and also had to have an IV put in because of dehydration. It took months for me to re-introduce different foods to my stomach.
Here is my question...Can Salmonella permanently deplete the enzyme your body needs to digest dairy properly. Ever since I was sick, I have had the worst problems with dairy and it has not gotten better. Doctors have told me that you can't get Lactose sensitivity from Salmonella but I never had a problem with it before I was sick.
Anyone have any thoughts??

Have you tried yogurts-
Hi and Welcome to the board!
What probably killed the good bacteria in your stomach that helps to digest dairy was the Cipro.
