HI Everyone :-)
Referred out in town to see a GI specialist about having an ERCP done. Been being treated by my GI specialist up on base. Had to refer me out in town to have this test done because they do not have the capabilities to do it on base. Anyway, went & saw this GI dr today to see about having it done. First thing he does is tell me that I do not need an ERCP & that all it is is IBS because my blood levels are normal & gives me a script for Efexor (says that it helps with IBS even though it is used to treat depression). I have IBS & have had it for many years. This does not even feel close to being IBS & I questioned several drs on base in the past & again today if they felt that it was IBS & they said NO. I left his office in tears & not sure of what to do. Don't get me wrong, I am leary about having an ERCP done, but we need to get to the bottom of what is going on. I immediately called my general surgeon & tried to get a hold of my other GI dr to tell them what is going on. My husband & I headed back to the Naval Hospital to get copies of my records so that this other dr could see that it is probably not IBS. Ran into my general surgeon, who is awesome, in the hall & he told me to not go back to him because IBS had already been ruled out months ago. He also told me not to take the meds. Saw my case manager, who got me a referral to see another GI specialist in another town. Was able to get an appt tomorrow with him. Still waiting for my GI dr on base to call me back. Anyway, please keep me in your thoughts & prayers concerning this. What do you all think about this?
HUGS,
Tara S.

Hey Tara,
Sorry you had to run into a not so friendly doctor...I wish they would get the same treatment that they give...it might shake 'em up...Keep us posted on how it goes...It sure doesn't sound like IBS...tell that doc he is wrong
