I have been have severe naseau with occasional vomiting, excess burping which alleviates the naseau for a few minutes, and I cannot consume more than water since yesterday morning/  Could this be pancreatitis, or something else?  I have a call in to my doctor, but am waiting for her to call back, and I am pretty scared.

Thanks!

Hi Nadine!

If your stomach gets worse, don't wait to call the doctor.

My mother in law has pancreatitis and she takes various medications for it (enzymes, I think, that help her digest her foods) and is on a pretty strict diet - daily). I know when she gets a "flair-up", she's in an intense amount of pain and often needs to go to the hospital (and she has a pretty high thresh-hold for pain). She's typically admitted and given something intraveniously for the pain and they keep her on a strict liquid diet - very low in fats - for several days until the pain resolves and her blood counts return to normal.

If you are in so much pain, I would urge you to go to the emergency room to be checked out. Number one, you shouldn't have to manage so much pain on your own, and number two, you need to be sure that you're not in eminent danger!!!

Please let us know what the blood work shows and the ultrasound. Hang in there, OK!

Happy Holidays!
