Hi all - I had my gb out Feb/04 and since then have been experiencing pain in my upper right quadrant.
The first 3 months the Dr's said my body was 'just adusting".
The next 3 months after that they said that some people take up to 6 months to get back to normal. Considering I didn't have this type of discomfort when the gb was in place this was odd.
In Sept I had a stomach flu - so chaulked it up to the flu for month#7. It was after that when it got worse (or maybe I'm just getting worn down) I've lost a bit of weight because I just hate the cycle of eat = hurt. It isn't dreadful pain - but definate discomfort and often nausea.
Saw my Dr 2 wks ago and he ordered an 'urgent' ultra sound - I got the phone call on Friday that the date is Dec 23. He said it may show a stone in a duct - or it may not provide any answers what so ever.
Here's hoping it's something that can easily be resolved,
Jo

JO,
Keep us posted.
I am only new to the world of gallstones, but I have read of that happening, where a stone can get left behind in a duct. Whatever the cause of your pain I hope they can finds the answers and that the solution will be quick and easy for you.
Thanks for all your previous help with my never ending questions!!!
Lisa.
I hope everything works out. I have heard of stones being in the duct like Lisa and I think they do a ERCP and it is removed. I'm sure things will work out just fine. Good luck and please keep us updated.
Keep your chin up girl!
This is interesting as I just saw my 2nd surgeon yesterday ( the first one was awful! ) and before he will do the surgery he is sending me for a ct scan where they inject some dye to see if there are any stones trapped in the duct. He said if that's the case they will remove those via endoscopy before they remove the gall bladder. He said if there were stones there that I would still get pain even after taking out the gall bladder. So I guess he has all bases covered.
Hope your ultrasound goes well.
Lisa.
