more gallstones questions

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I have more questions. In the past 2 and a bit weeks that I have been having gallstone problems I have had one severe bout of pain that lasted several hours and 2 moderate ones that lasted about an hour or so. But often on other days ( every 1 to 2 ) I am getting mild pain/discomfort in that same area including under my right shoulder blade with some stomach bloating that doesn't last very long. It is not enough to stop me from doing anything or even for anyone else to notice. Can gallstones cause this? I thought gallstone pain was always severe. I am under a lot of stress at the moment so maybe it has something to do with that although I have never reacted to stress this way before.Any thoughts anyone???

Thank-you,
Lisa.

Lisa,
I am not a Doctor but I can share with you how my GB attacks were. Anytime I would eat I would get pain in my upper stomach(Like under your breasts.) And sometimes it would ache all the way into the my back. I would get bloated also. Feeling as if my food wasn't digesting...I know that sounds weird. There is no other way to describe it.
I know some people complain of vomiting. I never did vomit, although sometimes I prayed I would have. I was in so much pain before my GB removal I was on pain medication. I remember one night lying in bed crying and wishing to die. NO JOKE. *Shivers* I am so glad those days are over. If I was you I would make a Doctor's appointment ASAP!
Good luck!

Thanks for your input ladies. I saw the new surgeon yesterday after deciding I deserved far better treatment and respect than the first one was willing to give! ( In hindsight I realise apart from being rude and insulting, the first surgeon didn't even ask me about any of my symptoms. He just read my drs letter and said I needed surgery! )Anyhow the new guy is great!! He was friendly and took time to explain everything including the risks of not having surgery and the risks if I do. He drew me a diagram to show me what is happening and gave me some literature to read. He gave me his mobile no to call if I decide in the next couple of weeks that I just can't deal witht the pain so he can get me in urgently, otherwise we will wait till the end of Jan. He has odered a ct scan to make sure there are no stones trapped in the duct that would need to be removed endoscopically first and I have a follow up appt on the 4th Jan. When he discussed risks he said that approx 5% of people end up having open surgery to avoid further complications where as the other guy said only 1 in 30,000 had the open surgery. Big difference there, but the 5% figure is what I had read in several places.

So that's where things are at the moment. Thanks for your help and have a great Christmas!

Lisa.
