Hi All,

Just found this board while surfing through all the boards (I belong to the July 2004 Fireflies group). When I was pregnant with my son I thought I was having severe morning sickness throughout my pregnancy. I gave birth to Conner in July 2004 and thought the MS would go away and it didn't. I went to my family doctor and he put me on dozens of different drugs for acid reflux and GERD. They helped somewhat but the nausea was back after a while. I was sent for lots of tests and an ultrasound came back that I had a "thickened gallbladder wall with lots of polyps". I went for a HIDA scan on the 22nd of Dec. and will find out the results and whether I will have my gallbladder removed on Jan.4. I have been living with this nausea for over a year and a half and everything I eat, fatty or not, turns my stomach. I am to the point where I am actually looking forward to getting my GB out! I am not afraid of the surgery as I have had laparoscopic surgery before, but am worried about after surgery. I have been reading awful horror stories of diarrhea, "phantom pains"...etc.
Anyways, sorry for rambling on and on. Just wanted to share my story. I will probably have many more ?'s in the future ;o)

Hi Donna - one thing to remember about the stories that you read on the internet - those who go on to live 'happily ever after' aren't posting their stories on web sites or message boards. I told myself that over & over prior to my surgery (feb/04)

Hope the dreadful storm that has hit southern MB has missed your parts.

Jo

p.s. - I read your profile - and I am a fan of Trailer Park Boys also! They are sooooo bad.

Donna,

Just wanted to say hi and welcome to the board. I'm fairly new too. I still have my galbladder but almost lost it once because of my IBS symptom mimicing galbalder disease. I hope you can stay positive because I hear it's the only way to go. My SIL had hers out and it changed her life for the better.

Take care of you and keep us posted.

Love,

Jamie

Hi. I had a baby in April 04 and ended up with 3 severe gallbladder attacks late July. first week of August i had my GB out via laprascopy. Generallly i feel great. I still have to watch what i eat on occasion. I basically KNOW if i shouldnt eat something ( like CiCi's pizza) but its not diarrhea its just a strong urge to have a bowel movement about 30-45 minutes after eating it and the BM is kinda soft. After its out i usually dont have any problems maybe a few cramps before the bm but thats usaulyl about it. Other than that i havent had any problems. The recovery was super easy although i have had 2 csections. Just make sure you drink lots of water and walk as much as you can. my dr had me off work for a fullmonth but thats becuase of the kind of job i have with having to lift buckets and such over 70 pounds many many times per day. I wish you luck with your surgery. and like the previous poster said you never hear about the good outcomes from GB removal just the bad ones.

Well I just got back from my appointment and my gallbladder is functioning normal. So the dr. is hesitant to take it out. He is setting up an appointment to get the scope down the throat done and if that doesn't come back with anything then he is going to remove my gallbladder. He said he doensn't want to remove it in case it is not the cause of my nausea. Oh well...more suffering for me.
PS thanks for all the warm welcomes and stories. I am glad I am not the only one going through this.
