Magnesium tablets for constipation

I read on this or another website about herbs/vitamins being used for constipation. One mentioned was magnesium. I've been taking 2 magnesium tablets (about 150 mg each) in the evening and usually sometime in the morning after water, juice, and coffee, I have a bowel movement that is soft and not dark-colored; I don't think this is harmful in any way. Anyone know about this? I do know that magnesium is part of Phillip's Milk of Magnesium, but taking the magnesium tablets doesn't cause the laxative effect that Phillip's does.

Hi Linda,
Magnesium does help constipation.
