Found something during GB surgery
| Fri, 01-21-2005 - 12:08pm |
I had my gallbladder removed yesterday (1/20). During surgery, they noticed that the lower part of my small intestine was inflamed. They are questioning whether it could be Crohn's disease or not and are sending me to a GI specialist. Of course, this is causing me a lot of concern and now I'm stressed about that. I haven't had diarrhea or any other symptoms that make me think it could be Crohns. Does anyone know of something else it could be that is less distressing? I guess I'm looking for a ray of hope to last until I have my appointment. I would appreciate any comments.

32 and falling apart

Hi luvwink - I don't have any great revalations. . . . but just wanted to say that it's a good thing they picked up an an abnormality and are investigating it.
Could it be that there is some inflamation there due to the inflamation going on with the GB prior to surgery? I'm just taking a guess - sometimes when one part of the body isn't well - it seems that other parts end up a bit out of sorts as well.
I have a good friend who has had Crohns for many years - she had symptoms when she was in her 20's, diagnosed in her early 30's and is now mid 50's. She is fortunate that for the most part she can manage it by being careful what she eats. During her pregnancies she had a dreadful time keeping it under control - but everyone is different.
Please let us know how you are doing - I'm sure that others will have some more helpful advice,
Jo
