'Phantom pains' ever since
After waiting 'to let my body adjust' for 9 months they finally ordered an ultra sound.
Reuslts are as follows:
The common hepatic duct measures around 3.6 mm. However, there is a prominent appearing common bile duct that tapers down into the head of the pancreas. The common bile duct measures up to 8.5 mm (should be 5 mm) and no evidence of choledocholithiasis (presence of gallstone in duct) is appreciated. Howver, the ductc is abnormal for this patient's age and correlation with liver enzyme studis is recommended and if there is somewhat obstructive enzyme pciture than an ERPC would be indicated to assess for any possibility of an ampullary stenosis (narrowing of the duct)
The pacreas is unremarkable . . . . no evidence of pancreatic duct dilation
Liver normal . . . .blah blah blah
Right kidney 11.8 cm lenght x 4.0 x 4.5 cim in dimension and does demonstrate some very minimal right-sided pelvicaliectasis of undertain clinical significance.
Left kddney 10.9 x 4.0 x 4.8 cm and no discrete focal left renal abnormality.
Spleen wihtin normal limits but appears a little prominent for the patient's size. No focal splenic parenchymal abnormality is identified. The abdominal aorta is normal in its appearance
Interpretation:
1. Ectasia (dilation) of the common bile duct measuring up to 3.5 mm that seems to taper into the head of the pancreas. Correlation with liver enzyme studies is recommended +/- an ERCP to assess for ampullary stenosis.
2. mild kidney pelvicaliectasis of uncertain significance.
The words in (brackets) are definitaions I've added.
My liver enzymes were all normal. I see my Dr again in 3 months- the blood work will be repeated & he'll be ordering another ultra sound. (or visit sooner if symptoms get worse). Based on the result of the next ultrasound and blood work he'll decide if he wants to go ahead with an ERPC.
That's about it. As odd as this may sound - I'm very glad to know that they found something abnormal - at least I know that I'm not imagining things.
This is motivation for me to get back on line and recording food on fitday.com. So many things cause discomfort that I avoid them and I know I'm not eating a balance diet. Unfortunately soft drinks don't cause problems and I drink them too often for energy. I'll fess up that I'm drinking at least one 700 ml bottle a day (10 oz) of C2 Coke. Certainly not a healthy source of calories or energy.
Any and all feed back, comments, input, or hugs appreciated.
Jo
