Hi Jill,
Thanks for asking about me. Firstly I am glad to read that your ercp went so well for you. I on the other hand was not so lucky! In fact I just got out of hospital yesterday after 9 days. The ercp itself was fine. The dr did the sphincterotomy to let a couple of small stones through, but not long after I woke up I began having severe pain and nausea/vomitting which just got worse and worse. They did blood work and decided I had pancreatitis brought n by the ercp ( either the dye they used or irritation by the instruments ). All I can say is that I have never had such unbelievable pain in all my life! I was only allowed ice chips for a week and I was on 3 pain medicines regularly and anti nausea drugs, but the pain never went away despite the medication. It was pure hell. Anyhow I am much better now, although I still have some pain which is at least relieved with medication now. I am eating again....cautiously! It is very nice to be home!
I was told before the procedure that there was a 10% chance of that happening to anyone who has an ercp, but you never think it will be you KWIM?
Lisa.
I am so sorry to hear that yours was not so Good.. I hope you feel better soon..
Did they say how long
Hi Lisa,
Thank you for sharing your story.
Thanks Wren and Lynn.
I am doing well....a little better each day. I am taking less pain killers each day so that is a good thing. Still very tired though and resting as much as I can which is not so easy with 3 children, but I have had help from my family.
I am a little concerned about one thing though , maybe someone will have an idea.....it started in the hospital so I assumed it was part of what I was going through and didn't mention it specifically to the dr, but it is continuing. About an inch to the left of my belly button, only when I move in a certain way like when I bring my knees up if I am lying down or trying to sit up, I get a sharp peircing pain. It feels like a hot needle poking in. It goes as quickly as it comes, but it certainly takes my breath away. I am afraid I am heading into paranoia now after all that has happened and I keep thinking they have left something in there, but I would feel like a complete idiot if I said that to my dr! It doesn't seem to be related to anything other than movement. Any clues anyone???
Lisa.
