Gallbladder coming out
| Wed, 03-02-2005 - 3:47pm |
Well I guess it's final. The gastro dr. wants to remove my gallbladder on March 22. I am a little worried because of all the horror stories I have read on here with diahrrea, pain, etc.
I have a thickened GB wall with polyps, but no stones. I do not have the GB attacks that everyone talks about only the nausea, slight discomfort under right rib cage, and fatigue.
Does anyone have anything similar and any GOOD experiences to share??
I am not worried about surgery as I have had laparoscopic surgery before.
Thanks,
Donna

Hi all,
Well surgery went ok. I am still having some major nausea though. Anyone know when that goes away???
I have 4 incision (3 around rib cage and 1 in belly button)they don't hurt at all but the stomach muscles hurt quite a bit. I still have pain from the gas they blow you up with in the shoulder and abdomen. When I move from my back to my side feels like a big air bubble moving too and hurts. I did have some diahhrea today but nothing too bad. Made me feel nauseous after though. Had to take some gravol this afternoon. Have been up and walking since the second day trying to move the gas out faster...did help a bit but there's still some stuck in there. But that's how it's been going so far. Thanks for asking.

Did you have any nausea after your GB was removed? If so how long before that went away?
I had a little this morning but nothing like yesterday afternoon...was pretty bad. And so far haven't had much this afternoon. I'm hoping it's going away.
I have 3 kids to look after, all under the age of 6. I haven't been able to cuddle my 8 month old yet and I miss it :o(
Coughing, yelling and sneezing are pure torture LOL. I don't have any pain from the incisions at all just my muscles are VERY sore if I move the wrong way or do any of the above.
Hope you feel better soon...

Hi Donna - my nausea lasted a long while. I remember seeing my Dr in Aug (6 mo post-op) and was told that my body was just adjusting becuase the nausea was slowly getting better (or I was just getting used to it) I was consuming less than 20% of calories from fat - any more than that and I'd experiece pain and really bad nausea. I found the nausea worse about 2 hrs after a meal - and first thing in the morning.
On Thursday I had a salad and forgot to order the dressing on the side - it was an oil & vinegarette and didn't seem like much - but today (2 days after the indulgance) I woke up nauseated.
Hope you are feeling better soon,
Jo

Donna,
I just looked at my incisions today and I got big bruises around the belly button one and the one between my breast bones. They were aching a bit last night but nothing too severe. I had a little nausea this morning but I think it might have been because of the acid reducing pills I'm on.
Sorry I don't know much about pancreatitis. I do know that when I had an abdominal ultrasound (where I found out I had GB problems)they looked at all my organs including the pancreas. I don't know if they can tell if you have pancreatitis by an ultrasound though. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Good luck with the little ones in daycare...and take it easy!
