I just found this board- I was sitting here bored at work and am pleasantly surprised that there is a board for this!

I'm Jenn, 23, a CYW from Windsor Ontario. I had my gallbladder out about 3 years ago. The pain was terrible when I had it but it didn't really go away when I had my gallbladder removed. It just turned into a different kind of pain, and I became lactose intolerant and allergic to peanuts after too. I get really strong chest pain that I like to call "phantom gallbladder pain" because that's the area the pain is at, when I eat aything dairy or spicy. Not to mention, the bowel problems. I really have to watch my diet, and that's a pain in the neck, especially at work. I have to bring a bagged lunch from home, which is hard to explain to the girls why I'm not eating their specially prepared meals...

I'm glad to see there are stomach and bowel recipes... I'll go check those out right away! And I look forward to meeting you all.

>Do you keep a food diary or journal of what you can eat and what you don't?

Kind of. If I have a bad reaction to something, I'll write it in the book. I've had to bring it to work and show my coworkers, and I've had to give them and my Mum and boyfriend a lesson on what to do incase I have a bad reaction to something. It's a pain the neck... but I guess it's what I've got to do now.

Thanks for the welcome :-)

Hi Jenn - welcome to the board!

I had my GB out just over a year ago and really have to be cautious about what I eat. Fortunately I can have all the spices I can stand without any problems. There are just food groups that don't agree with me.

I had an ultrasound done in December (after having my post GB complaints brushed off as being my 'body adjusting' for 9 months!). Turns out that I wasn't imagining it after all - there is some inflamation in one of the ducts. The ultrasound hasn't ruled out a gallstone that got left behind

Nice to meet you,

Jo

> I also exercise everyday at least 1/2 hr this is a great stress reliever..

Oh I know about that! I've been going to the gym 3-4x/week for years. I've also got myself a personal trainer. I needed the stress reliever first in University, but now that I've graduated and got myself a job that some would consider stressful, I go more frequently. I also like to stay in shape and it makes me feel good in general. I'm not really that sressed of a person though.

Nope, don't have Acid Reflux. I was tested for it and was given medication for it just in case but the meds for it made me throw up constantly. Good thing I don't that.

Bowel problems and chest pain only go along with the dairy. I am lactose intolerant. I have the pills for before dairy (only works on small doses- no chest pain or bowel problems with small doses of dairy with the pills), but I have pills for after dairy which stops the chest pains (large doses). But large doses of dairy are NOT worth it, so I hardly eat anything with lactose. I only use the pills when I'm eating Mum's pyrohys and cheese on a sub. I won't eat any other kind of lactose product.
