Hi, I wanted to get some feedback on my recent setback. I was just beginning to have a great handle on my IBS problems and what I can eat, and getting a couple of pounds put back on, when I can down with a terrible head/chest cold last weekend. Needless to say, my Easter was awful, spent most of the weekend coughing and blowing my nose for 4 days!
On Monday, I had a doctor's appt for a return check on some bladder problems I've been having over the past couple of months. My doctor diagnosed me with IC, interstitial cytstits, too much acid in my urine. Now I'm having to take a new med for 3-6 months and change my diet by cutting out foods high in acid and potassium, like apples, peaches, oranges, sour cream, yogurts, eggs, any processed meats, chinese, mexican, some juices, carbonated drinks, tomatoes and some beans. I've got a whole list of things that are allowable and ones to avoid.
Anyhow, due to this and taking antibiotics and decongestants for the cold, my bowels are all messed up for the past 3 days. Since yogurts is on the list to avoid, cottage cheese is one I can have, and I was wondering how does cottage cheese compare with yogurt? I do take an acidolphis pill everyday, my doctor didn't say to stop taking those. Fruits I can have are blueberries, melons other than cantaloupe and pears. I just want to get my bowels calmed down again and get back at putting a diet back in order and get some weight put on. I do drink Lactaid milk, but I'm terrible about drinking it every day. I'm also having a hard time getting started even walking every day, even with the weather getting warmer, I still can't get motivated much, even to take the dog walking. I've got a huge camping event coming in the late fall and I need to get myself ready, putting on some weight and just feeling healthier.
Sure could use some feedback and suggestions.
Valerie

Valerie, Does your doctor know you are taking acidolphis?
