Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Still going through this lovely nightmare of trying to find out what is going on. To make a very long story short. I was assigned a new pcm up on base (we are military). She finally got things rolling as to why I have been so sick since January of last year. She suspected sarcoidosis. Referred me to UNC Chapel Hill to see the pulmonologist & the GI surgeon there. They do not think that that is what is going on. The GI surgeon I was not happy with at all. He said its fibromyalgia & that I needed to walk 15 minutes a day. If I could walk 15 minutes a day, I would be working right now. Anyway right after that appt, my new pcm was let go. I had then had enough & requested that I change my pcm to someone off base that I had heard really really good things about. This was about 3 weeks ago that I met with my new pcm off base. First thing he noticed is the problems with my bloodwork. He said fibromyalgia & IBS does not cause problems with your bloodcount, especially when it comes to the white blood cells. He made some phone calls & had me come back a week later to talk to him. Of course, I then came down with my 2nd severe case of the flu in less than 4 weeks. It ended up going into severe asthmatic bronchitis with possible pneumonia. Also, my white blood cell count went up again big time. I went back to him this past Thursday because the abdominal pain is getting worse & I had an ear infection. He gave me the lovely GI coctail to see if that would help. It didn't. He then ordered some bloodwork to be done right away & ordered a CT that was done yesterday. He is suspecting possible chronic pancreatitis possibly being caused by sludge that might still be left in the duct? if that makes sense. His associate called me back last night. White bloodcell count is still high (16,100). He put me on a liquid diet. He is going to talk to my regular dr & talked to the General surgeon on call & give me a call sometime today. I am also not to wear anything or do anything that puts pressure on that area & to take it really easy. What does this sound like to you? I am so frustrated right now. Anyway, I will let you know what the dr says. Thanks for being here for me.

HUGs,
Tara

Hi Lynn,

I still haven't heard anything yet from the dr. Get very frustrated at this point. Please speculate??? Any inkling of what you might think it could be???

It does sound like chronic pancreatitis.

Tara,

I know something is wrong, you shouldn't be in this much pain.

Tara,

I know doctors can fit in emergencies...so why can't your regular doc get you into see the GI specialist sooner??
