I'm 25yrs old and for the past week I've had really bad cramps (yes it is my time of the month) but my bowel movement if any is really loose and about 95% of it is pure blood! This happens more than three times a day. I don't know what the problem is. I've been eating rasisns thinking that would help me get back to normal but so far not. Everything has been fine until this week. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Thank you to all for your kind reply. It is the same thing today. I've had this happen before but not quite this bad when I was 17 and went through the whole preparation (not fun) for some type of procedure where I was put under and they put something inside me down there to look around (sorry, can't remember the name of procedure). They found nothing wrong. Perhaps it has something to do with my period. If it does not stop by the end of next week then I'll make a doctor's appt. Thank you all for your help.

Please do not wait any longer to make an appt with a Gastroenterologist. If you are having as much blood as you indicated it is very serious. Yes, it is not that uncommon for some of us on this board to have blood in our stools and deal with loose or constipated stools, HOWEVER, most of us have also been to doctors and are aware of when it happens and know that it is not anything more serious and what to do if neccesarry. I started having problems like you did a couple of years ago (was in my early twenties) and had a colonoscopy which is what I think you were referring to as far as the test done and it also came back looking fine.....YET three days later I was checked into a hospital and spent a week there with every test done under the sun, surgeory, and thanks to the infection I had not only had IV antibiotics, but three other strong ones after leaving the hospital which did not finish the job so ended up taking more totaling over 5 weeks worth. It wrecked havoc on my body like you could not imagine and I had to have blood drawn twice a week for months to monitor things........

Like the other poster said, do not prolong this b/c those of us who have in the past know the serious financial, physical and time consequences that can only get worse.

That is not a normal part of your menstrual cycle and you need to see a gastroenterologist (specializes in digestive matters) ASAP.

Thank you to all for your further replies. Today it is still the same thing. I even felt very nauseas when I started to eat lunch today. I feel it is getting in the way of things I want to do like instead of doing something I'll have to go to the bathroom, even when at work. My husband is begging me to go to the doctor too. I had the courage to tell him (didn't want to due to it being embarassing). I'm going to give it another day or so (I know, stupid thing to do) before I call to make an appt. with the doctor. Thank you for the support/advice.
