It is common to have the bile present after having gall bladder surgery. The sac (gall bladder)is now gone and it used to hold the bile acid (digestive fluid) that was released when it was needed to digest foods mainly fatty foods. Now that you do not have one the bile which is produced in the liver is sent directly to the stomach and intestines and can cause the burning and backing up you may be having. Questran is a RX that can help this or for many the use of calcium carbonate without magnesium can help to control this and what the heck you probably need the added calcium anyway. Let me know if you want me to send you the info on how to take the calcium. By the way are you having diarrhea attacks after eating since having the gall bladder removed this too can be controlled by taking the calcium supplement.

donaik2004,

If you are still on pain meds since you have had the surgery it may be stopping some of the diarrhea that you might have because things like vicodin will cause constipation. I sent you the calcium info and maybe you can get some relief from the excess bile by taking it.

I hope things get better for you soon.

Linda
