Hi Everyone,

I had another colonoscopy today.  We finally have answers!!!!!  It was exactly 16 months ago today that my medical nightmare started & we finally know what is wrong.  I was awake for the entire colonoscopy, but was very comfortable.  Thank goodness.  Nurse was surprised that I was awake.  She said she had given me enough meds to knock me out.  I watched everything on the screen.  Boy, did things look different than what they did back in December.  Definitely have significant colitis.  When he got to where the colon meets the small intestine, there were several nodules & cobblestone appearance consistant with Crohn's disease.  He took biopsies from this area & several other areas.  At the end of the procedure, I remember him saying that we now know what has been making me so sick.  I remember something being mentioned about Crohn's disease.  They took me back to the recovery room.  The dr came in briefly to talk to Dh & I & said he basically will not tell us what he thinks is wrong till he confirms it with the biopsy results.  I called my primary care dr to let him know how things went.  He called me back earlier this evening.  He had just gotten a premilinary report from the GI dr.  They ar pretty definite that I do have Crohn's disease & it appears to be in the small intestine & possibly the stomach.  Just waiting for the biopsy results to come back to officially confirm it.  He said this is definitely what caused my post-op illius (bowel obstruction) last year, the problems with my white bloodcell count, the severe upper right/middle abdominal pain, etc that I have been having since January of 2004.  Anyway, will hopefully know more tomorrow when I meet with him for some other issues that could be related to the Crohn's.   Thank you so much for being here for me.  So what do you all think?  does this also sound like Crohn's to you?

Tara, Im glad you have answers now hopefully they can help you now. my son had ulcerative colits starting when he was 18 yrs old he is 25 now.. he had all the same symptoms you have, i also have a good friend who is 62 yrs old who was diagonosed with chrohns at the ago of 60 she has the same symptoms, she had part of her colon removed about 6 weeks ago my son had his entire large colon removed in dec of 2002. he battled this for 2 yrs before they operated because he was so sick and lost 60pds and was in no condition to have surgery, he is now doing very good except for an occasional bile blockage. my friend is also doing very good. keep us posted on how you are doing..my son was on a variety of meds to help control it, he had so many polyps that is why they operated they were afraid that they were picking and choosing which ones to biopsy and were afraid they might miss some bad ones, he was back up to 145 when he had surgery,
Good Luck
