Hello. I am 25 years old. For the past 3-4 months I have had bloating, constipation, and gas off and on (I seem to have it more often than not). I have a desk job and I've noticed that the bloating and gas are worse when I'm sitting for long periods of time than when I am up and being more active. I also have had what I think to be frequent urination for about a year now. I go to the bathroom anywhere from once every hour to once every 2-3 hours. I often wake up once at night to go. I never used to have to go in the middle of the night and I never had to go every couple of hours either. I urinate a normal amount and I just went to the dr. a couple of weeks ago and I don't have an infection. I have also had a very bad burning pain during intercourse with my boyfriend for a couple of years now. This has obviously taken a toll on my sex life. I have been to several doctors about all of these symptoms and not one of them has helped me. They all seemed to just brush it off as no big deal and tell me nothing is wrong. Well, obviously none of this is normal and something is wrong! I'm so tired of going to doctors. I just want to find out what is wrong and have it fixed. Could these be symptoms of IBS or some other digestive disorder? Should I go to a GI doctor? A Urologist? I really don't know what to do. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Kristen

Hi and Welcome Kristen,
I am not so sure you have a urination problem.
Thanks for your reply! To answer your questions:
"Does it burn when you p? Do you have any other problem going to the bathroom Other than a lot? Does it hurt?" ***It does not burn or hurt when I urinate. Like I said before the doctor just tested it and I do not have an infection.
"Now if you are drinking more so Like soda, tea or coffee this will make you go more"
***I don't drink soda or coffee or tea but on occasion. I just primarily drink water and I have not increased the amount of water I drink.
"Now do you have a fever ? If this burning sensation continues you may need a doctor to help you and your boyfriend with this. Sometimes when one partner has a infection the other may too" ***I don't have a fever. My SO and I have been together for 6 years monogamously. I guess it's possible that he has an infection, but he hasn't complained of any symptoms.
I've been through all of this with several doctors now. I actually just started keeping a food diary this week so maybe that will help me nail down a certain food. When I started my food diary I also wrote down if I felt bloated, constipated, or had gas. I have also kept track of when I urinate. Hopefully all these diaries will help me! I haven't tried lemon water yet, so maybe I'll give that a go. I also just bought some Metamucil and thought I would try that. I'm just worried that there may be something really wrong with me, but the doctors I've been too don't seem too worried.
Thanks for the help!
Kristen
Kristen,
I'm sorry, I wasn't offended or getting upset with you. I didn't mean for my reply to sound that way. I just thought I would try and answer all your questions. My symptoms are just really annoying! I just want to know what is wrong. I did just have my yearly pap last month and all is well with that. I have some yogurt with fruit in it and it has active cultures. Does that work also? I don't care for plain yogurt, but if it might help then it might be worth a try. It's weird, my symptoms seem worse while I am at work (I have a desk job) and tend to get better in the evenings and on the weekends when I am not at work. I wonder if the sitting for long periods of time aggrevate my problems? Once again, I was not mad or offended at your post. Sorry if it sounded that way!
Thanks!
Kristen :)
Kristen,
I have previously research IC and thought I might have it. Some of the symptoms match mine...frequent urination, urgency, uncomfortable feeling/pressure on my bladder. I do not have any pain however. I went to the Dr. last week and thought it may be IBS. First he wants to rule out lactose intolerance so I can't eat any dairy products for 2 weeks. I didn't realize I ate that much dairy until I couldn't have it!
Thanks!
Kristen
