Strange BM...

Hello. I posted on here not too long ago about some constipation/gas & bloating/frequent urination. Well, last Friday I started taking Metamucil capsules for the constipation. The bottle recommends taking 5 capsules 4 x a day. I decided to take 5 once a day and see how I did. Well, it did help my constipation until the other day when it came back. Then today when I had a bm (sorry if this is gross) it was a bit darker than normal and there were some pieces hanging off of it and I could feel it just hanging there. It was firm not soft. This has never happened before and I thought maybe it's the metamucil? Also when I'm constipated it seems to come out in little round pieces rather than one formed piece. I'm assuming this is a sign of constipation? I have also had a little cramping/aching in my lower back off and on today. I'm not sure if it's related or not.
Thanks!

Kristen,
Sounds like the metamucil
Hi Kristen!
It's good to know you are taking the Metamucil for your constipation.
Hmmm, no I did not up my water intake. That must be part of the problem. I bought some prunes today and I think I will try those. I think I jumped in too fast with the metamucil. Should I only do one or the other or should I take a couple metamucil capsules and eat a couple of prunes? Thanks for the help!!

Kristen,
I will try to increase my water intake. I started the prunes last night (I ate 4) and today and I'm starting to see a difference. I'll give the metamucil to my mom. She takes it to help with her cholesterol. Thanks for the helpful advice! I'm still having that achy/crampy feeling in my lower back. It seems ok when I am active but when I sit down it starts. Any idea what this might mean?
Thanks!
Kristen
Kristen,
Keep a diary or journal on this achy back pain*
Kristen,
I am glad you are not using both the metamucil and the prunes. Keep doing the prunes and also the water. We need the water. Helps to keep things moving. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Let us know how the back is feeling.
Hugs,
The achy/crampy feeling in my back went away Saturday and hasn't come back since. What has come back is my constipation. It's not as bad as before but I'm still constipated. I have been keeping up with 3-4 prunes a day and drinking water. I'll continue the prunes and water and see how I am in a few days. Thanks for the help!
