Weird Question

I've been undergoing a lot of tests lately to try and figure out what is causing a set of symptoms I have, but none of the tests have showed any abnormalities. For the past six months I've had extreme bloating in my lower abdomen, along with occasional pain in the same area. I've had ultrasounds and abdominal scans and they haven't shown anything. My doctor gave me information on IBS and the symptoms seem consistent with mine. I have bloating, some pain, frequent, loose BMs that feel "incomplete." The only thing is that I've got another symptom that I haven't seen listed and might be totally unrelated. For the same time I've been bloated, my breasts have been swollen and sore (and I've had the ultrasounds so I know I'm not pregnant). I read that IBS is more common in women and can get worse around the time of your period, so it may be related to hormones. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this symptom or if it's something totally unrelated to IBS. The ultrasound did show a fibroid cyst, but the doctor said it was not large enough to be causing the symptoms. If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it. None of my clothes fit me right now because of my distended stomach and swollen chest!

Thanks : )

Hi Emmabee95!

Welcome to the board. I think we all can relate to bloating and pain. It's not much fun. Wren gave you some excellent ideas and you should try them. Have you been checked for Celiac Disease? How about gluten intolerance and also lactose or casein intolerance?? YOu may want to get tested as your symptoms are symptoms of these diseases. Just a thought.
Take care and let us know what you decide to do. Hope you are feeling better.

Hugs

Hi Wren and Lynn,

Thanks very much for your thoughts. I am guilty of drinking soda at lunch and dinner and like salt a lot too. The only thing that's really changed in my diet is that I've been eating more vegetables and I've started having smoothies with soy milk and yogurt in the morning. I'll have to look up Celiac Disease, as I don't know anything about it. I haven't looked into lactose intolerance either. I thought that caused gas, and fortunately, that hasn't been a problem.

Thanks for your advice!
