CROHN"S DISEASE
| Fri, 05-13-2005 - 8:45am |
Hello. I am 30 and was diagnosed with Crohn's at 26. (who knows how long I had it before then) I have left messages in other forums and I am amazed at the very few people out there struggle with a disease they don't know much about. Myself included. I am doing a lot better than some people do with Crohn's and I'd like to think I eat pretty healthy and stay active, but is there advice; diet and eating, recipes, preventative, do's and dont's of Crohn's????? I read all the mags, SELF, Fitness, Prevention Magazine... to no avail. No one has really done an article on this subject. Event the Mayo just gave the basics of the disease. Is there help? a Crohn's Foundation? Someone? Thanks for your time. JMH

Hi,
I can help you. I know how hard this sort of thing can be to live with...
I have celiac disease...but, deal w/ Crohn's customers frequently.
I own a healthfood store that specailizes in food allergies.
One diet that has helped many Celiacs (myself included) and people w/ Crohn's is a diet called the SCD Diet. It takes a lot of planning to make everything...but, is well worth it. And, doing this diet helps people like us heal our already damaged colons.
I don't know if I can post the SCD website...but, punch it into the search engine and you'll find it easily.
It could change your life. before I did the diet...I was losing my hair, had horrible skin rashes, low energy, and had to stop travelling b/c of of digestive issues.
Hope that helps,
Ilene
Good!
