My mother suffered with extreme pain almost everyday since she was 13, shes 47 now. She spent countless hours getting tests, and god knows how much money trying to get some relief for her problem. She was diagnosed with IBS and spastic colon, both of which may have had some part to her discomfort, but ultimatly were not the problem. The one thing that irritated me the most, was how she described the embarrasment of having a few doctors tell her it was all in her head. Honestly, why do doctors become doctors if they arent willing to help their patients?! A month ago she finally found relief upon her 10th visist to the ER for her stomach (im sure she went more than that, but i lost track after so many years). My mother had a condition known as cecal vovolous. In other words, her colon had become so twisted off that a portion went from the right side of her body to the left. This condition if left untreated, can cause the portion of the colon that becomes twisted to lose blood flow and die off, resulting in gange-green, and possibly other complications. She was diagnosed with a simple X-ray. It is now more than a month later since they removed the foot long portion from her colon, and she is pain free. Unfortunately, cecal vovolous is a genetic disease. I have had chronic pain since i was about 12 years old, but it has recently become worse. I would get it checked out but im not exactly made of money, and i can't afford to have some doctor telling me its all in my head. How many doctors do we have to see before we honestly get some help. If youve had a doctor give you the same BS answer that my mother was given, please take the poll and post. And more importantly, can you deny payment to a doctor who mis-diagnoses or gives you a crappy "its all in your head" answer and sends you on your way with some muscle relaxers and a pain killer?!

I am not anti-doctor I am anti-neglect and it is a doctor's job human or not to look for what may be wrong with someone and rule out medical reasons before they decide it is all in your head. I use to work with doctors and have no issue with them as a whole. But I would say the same thing if a bus driver with a bus full of kids decided to drive without sleeping. Human beings must be responsible for the lives they impact. The doctor I spoke of was not and did not run one single test. That is not what most doctors would do. Most would run many tests that is all I was saying based on my experience with that doctor I referred to. At 17 I didn't have the option to see another doctor and they didn't believe me when I said I was in mega pain. Years later they did.
