Hello, my name is Marion and I live in Norfolk, Virginia and have recently been told that I have Diverticulitis and a colon that resembles a twisted garden hose and alot of pockets that are inflammed.
I had my colonoscopy done afew weeks ago.
It was not the first time I had ever had one done but the first time that it was done in a doctor's office verses the hospital as an outpatient basis and the first time that I was not out cold, I woke up in the middle of the procedure in alot of pain and my husband heard me all the way out in the waiting room.
I have been told several times in the past that I have this and then told it was something else, but 3 years ago when I had my last colonoscopy done I had two polyps removed and was told to do a repeat procedure in 3 years which I just did.
I had moved since it was done last so I was not able to go back to the other doctor and had been refered by my PMO to see this doctor and it was who my insurance had told me to go to since he accepts my insurance.
This had to be the worse procedure I have ever had done, and the most painful. I am so sore in the left side where he told me I had a twisted garden hose for a colon and pockets and inflammation. That was two weeks ago and I am still having severe pain in the side down to my groin area and it feels like there is something in there when I walk or bend over. It hurts alot and I went back and he did nothing but send me for an abdominal X-Ray to make sure that he had not perforated the colon area.
I did have a biopsy done and will go back next week for the results but in the meantime I hurt and I am scared of what this all means.
The Doctor is from a foreign country and very hard to understand and not very compasionate and it was like the JIFFY LUBE OF COLONOSCOPIES, I hated it.
Is there anyone else out there suffering from this condition and if so do you have any suggestions on what I should be doing.
Email me at tdavidson12@cox.net if you want and thanks.
Marion

Hi and Welcome Marion,
Well it does sound like something is not right
Thanks for getting back to me. I had the procedure done Saturday, July 9 and I am still sore and having discomfort in the whole left side and it feels like there is something there when I bend over or walk. I get pains in my groin area too.
This Doctor was not my pick but a doctor referred to me by my primary care doctor and my insurance company. We are retired military and have to go where the insurance company tells us.
Afew days after the test I did go back to see this doctor and he sent me to have an abdominal X-Ray to make sure it did not show a perforation of any kind and put me on anti-biotics, I have since finished those but the pain is still there.
I remember waking up in the middle of the procedure in so much pain and this woman standing over me pushing on my stomach and hearing the doctor say I cannot go any further I am hurting her. My husband heard me scream all the way out in the waiting room.
It was the worse pain I can remember having, and I have never woke up during one of these things.
I have been told several times in the past that I have this condition and just in May went to the emergency room with pain and discomfort and they told me it was a kidney stone.
I am so confused but know that I do not want to go back to this doctor. I have to go back on the 27 to get the biopsy report, I do not know why he cannot just tell me over the phone so I can make arrangements through my insurance company to see another GI.
Before the procedure I was having BM's 3-4 times a day and now it is hard to have one. I have been chewing fiber tablets and trying to watch what I eat. I know that when I eat popcorn it kills me or any type of corn.
Thanks,
Marion
Oh Marion,
Thanks for everything, I am going to the bathroom but the pain I am having is weird, it feels like something is in there when I walk or bend over.
He told me at my last visit that my colon was like a twisted garden hose and I had a blockage and pockets and inflammation.
I finished up the pills on Monday and I called this morning to tell the office I wanted my biopsy report but they said they would not give it to me over the phone and that I had to wait till my next appt. which is next week. I guess that is standard policy with most doctors. I just hate waiting, that stresses me out more.
I told the receptionist that I was still having discomfort and pain that was going down into my groin area and she told me to go to the web site and send the doctor an email.
WHAT IS UP WITH THAT, I have never been treated like this before.
If it gets worse then I will go to the ER and by pass this jerk altogether.
I have never been one to drink alot of water and will try to start.
I appreciate all your advise.
Marion
Take care
Hope you are feeling better
