Hi everyone,
New here and desparetly need some advice. I've been having stomach problems for over 5 years now. It all started when I moved to U.S: stress, new foods, and stomach virus..... I used to be able to eat anything, but since it all started the variety of foods that my stomach can tolarete is getting smaller and smaller. Let's see- I can't eat apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, anything with cream cheese, cheese, anything with mayo, to name a few, and forget about pizza, anything fried, or spicy. Some days, even stuff, that I think is safe for me to eat, still makes me sick. I can only eat small portions, otherwise I get very bloated. Also, food can sit in my stomach for over 6 hours, even though I know it should be gone within 3 hours. Gosh, my 10 year old eats 3 times more that me. I've lost 15 pounds in the last 5 years, because I don't think I'm eating enough. Anyways, I feel nauseaus every day after eating this or that, and Pepto is the only thing that makes me feel better. I'm sick of eating the same blend food over and over again, and want to enjoy food like normal people do. I want pizza!!!!! Anyways, I've seen GI doctor, and had barruim test, had my liver, and gall blader checked, ultrasound of the stomach, and endoscopy. Everything came back normal, and the doctor said, that I have functional dyspepsy(?). He proscribed Reglan, but later suggested to stay away from it because I mentioned that I might have anxiety/depression. Reglan can affect the nervouse system and make anxiety worse, I guess. So, then GI doctor said that he can't really do anything for me, and Reglan was my only option, so I just have to deal with it. So, I feel totaly devastated. I ve been deeling with this for so long, and was really hoping that endoscopy will give some answers, and they will come up with the treatment, and he tells me he can't do anything for me. But I can't deal with being sick all the time! I don't think I can do this anymore! He did say, that maybe anxiety medication could fix the stmach problems, and I am going to see the doctor for that next week. The thing is, though, I've tried taking medications before, and my stomach can't tolerate them, taking with food or without, or I get some other weird side effects. So, I'm just looking for some advice from somebody who was/is in the same situation. Is there hope that I'll ever feel better? I've seen some people were talking about enzymes. Would the doctor proscribe that or is that something over the counter ?
Anyways, thanks for reading this far. I will apppreciate any advice you might have, or anything you have to say.

Hi and Welcome to iVilage
Well
What you are going through sounds VERY similar to what I am dealing with. It all started with a stomach virus(I was vomiting for 24 hours)while I was pregnant with my son(he is now just over a year old). Ever since then I have been nauseous, feel like food is just sitting in the stomach, bloating and gas. I had my GB removed hoping that would solve the problem--it didn't. I can only eat bland foods. I have went from weighing 138 lbs down to now weighing 108 lbs. I am taking Pantoloc and drink Pepto like it's koolaid. I have had ultrasound, barium swallow, Hida scan, endoscopy, H. Pylori Breath test, blood work--all negative with the exception of my GB and "mild" gastritis. I was told that that taking the PPI's would help with the gastritis. They haven't. I was put on many anti-nausea medications, but all seem to have a weird side effect that I manage to get, not to mention that isn't solving the problem but only "masking" it. I have 3 children under the age of 6 I have to look after and these problems are not making it any easier.
I was told about a condition called Gastroparesis. Some of the symptoms are similar to what I am experiencing--nausea, food sitting in the stomach for hours, bloating. My dr. even prescribed me Domperidone for it but again, the side effects are horrible!
I am going back to see the dr. next week for some more blood tests. I am beginning to think that he is sick of seeing me ;o)
I do sympathize with you--I know how it is to feel so crappy. I do hope you find some answers! I will definately let you know if I find any answers to what I am dealing with as it might be the same as what you are.
Good Luck!
Donna
Hi Sveta!
The first thing I am going to say is that American food is over processed and refined.
