I believe it is a inflammation and may be caused by the bile reflux and if I remember you did have a gall bladder removed correct me if I am wrong.

The bile is an acid and could be backing up in the esaphagus.

Donna K,

Hello again! I have gastritis as well. It is inflammation of the stomach. I think the others explained it pretty much perfectly. I suffer with almost all the symptoms--nausea(the biggest one),loss of appetite, bloating, feeling full after only a few bites, "brick" feeling in the stomach for hours after eating, burping/gas. The only one I don't get is vomiting--thankfully.
The biggest problem I am having is curing it. I have been taking PPI's for what seems like ages and none of them seem to work. I started off taking Ranitidine(Zantac in the US) and it didn't do anything for me. Then I was switched to Pariet(Aciphex) and it helped for the first week then same thing--back to feeling awful. I am now taking Pantoloc(Protonix) and again the same thing--works for a week then stops. I had the H. Pylori breath test a week and a half ago thinking maybe that was causing my gastritis to linger but it was negative. I don't take any aspirin, ibuprofen or even tylenol so that's not the cause. I tried changing my diet to eliminate anything irritating to the stomach but that didn't help either. So I am going back to the dr. for some more blood tests to get this figured out. Something is irritating my stomach but what? I don't know!
Anyhow, Hope your feeling better soon. I know you ahve been through alot--almost the same things as me with the GB removal, feeling bad after the removal, etc.

Hello all, thanks for the replys. they took a biopsy but of courc wont be back for a week or so. i do take NSAIDS alot becuse of my back problems and aches and pains. do not drink alcohol maybe 1 drink a yr.hopefully the nexium will help my youngest son was on it for his gastritis and he said it did not help him at all but he has had so many problems from his colitis surgery and all kinds of stuff. i have been passing gas so much the past few days and that is not normal for me, i mean like constant and feels like i still gotta go BM even when i already have gone. having the colonoscopy done on monday. the dri did not mention if i still had the reflux and the hernia. will have to ask him about that on Monday. To Donna M boy you have tried everything for your gastritis havent you? im sorry nothing is working on a full time basis. Will let you all know the results of the colonoscopy on Monday.
thanks

Hi all. I had my colonaoscopy done today and it totally normal as it was 2 yrs ago. i was awake for the whole test it was pretty neat to watch i feel asleep half way thru last time, so the dr feels the anemia is coming from the gastritis. the biopsy came back today and it was normal no bacteria or anything.
Take care all

Oh how right you are, the prep is the pits, but the test is nothing to it and i was awake the whole time and only felt slight pressure when he pulled out the tube. still feel crappy most days tho, the gastritis i guess nothing i eat sits well with me.besides the reflux and hiatil hernia i have also.
thanks
