MRI Results: Liver Mass & now Gallstones

Hello!

Just received a copy of the MRI results (for the mass on my liver)and talked to the Nurse Practitioner at the Gastroenterologist's office so I thought I'd share my news with you and vent a little.

Good news is that the bloodwork (i.e. they tested for cancer markers) appears normal so far - a more detailed study will be available at end of week. The MRI still shows that there is a mass on my liver but I quote: "it does not have any of the typical characteristics of a malignant lesion but it is also somewhat atypical for a benign lesion as well." So what is it??? The radiologist recommends a repeat study in 3 months. The NP said that the GI Doc has not read the report yet but she thinks I should just put this on the backburner for awhile - until we do the next MRI in 3 months. Yeah right I'll try to do that!

Bad news is that the MRI did show that I have gallstones (however, they were not seen on the Cat Scans I had in July and early October - is that possible?). So the NP set me up for an ultrasound on Monday, October 31. She says that is the best way to see gallstones. This is in addition to the tests on my esophagus for Thursday/Friday, November 3/4 that the GI Doc set up for me when I saw him last Tuesday. One is called esophogeal mannometry and the other is a 24 hour Ph probe - I have to go home with a tube in my nose hooked up to a monitor that monitors the acid & contractions in my esophogus? Anyone have one of these? I'm not looking forward to it at all! The NP told me that it is not pleasant but very conclusive.

Anyway thank you all for "holding my hand" during these very tense days. Your caring and concern was/is greatly appreciated! :)

Hi Sue - you sure have a lot going on!

Do you have the results that you mentioned would be available by the end of this week?

Sorry - but I don't have any practical answers what so ever.

I can certainly empathize with the 'wait
