How much fat is too much (GB)

Ok, Sunday/Monday I was diagnosed with gallbladder disease. I go in 2 weeks to meet with a surgeon to see if I need surgery or not. Since then, I haven't had any fat. I am only eating fat free foods. I am ready to start re-introducing fat into my daily diet. I don't know how much is too much, or how much I should even try? I am wanting to start small, with a gram or two a day. I know this probably sounds stupid, but I just don't want to have to go through the same pain I did on Sunday. So I'm not sure how much fat I should eat, or try to eat? Does it matter what kind of food it is, or just the amount of fat? If anybody has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it! I know I've been posting a lot of questions lately on GB's, but I didn't know a thing about any of this before Sunday. So I'm still learning...

The above link will do a quick calculation based on what it thinks your caloric requrements are. Keep in mind that this is only a guide line.
For me - it gives a range for fat that is from 26 - 52 grams per day.
Pre gb surgery I was more like about 15 grams a day - and wasn't eating meat, junk food or dairy - basically no saturated fats and no trans fats.
Now I'm at about 25 grams of fat / day with the occasional day where I indulge in desert out.
Monounsaturated fats are considered the 'best'. (I remember it by thinking "M" = more = better than the others). That is if you mean 'which fat is healthiest' - I really don't know if they impact you gb differently.

I think you are doing the right thing by introducing fats gradually.

thanks
Hi Wren - I haven't seen Lynn on the board for a couple of weeks.
Doesn't she have a family member in poor health - maybe a parent (I could be mistaken but I thought she'd mentioned it a while back). Hope things are okay.
