Fullness under ribs?

Lately, for the past couple weeks or so, I've been having sort of an odd "feeling" on my left side around my ribs. It's not pain, exactly, although sometimes it does hurt a little right where my bra rests. But the main thing is that whenever I eat I get this really uncomfortably full feeling right under my ribs, even if I only eat a little bit. I went to the doctor and he said that my transverse colon felt inflamed, and he said it was because of my IBS. He advised me to eat plenty of fiber, and sent me home.

That was a week ago. I'm still having these feelings of fullness on my left side up under my ribs, although tonight after I ate I also felt it a little on the right side as well. I don't have any other symptoms that I associate with my IBS (i.e. diarrhea, anxiety, etc.), although I suppose I haven't been, er, going to the bathroom as often because I haven't been eating much (it's too uncomfortable!). A lady I know who has been dealing with diverticulitis recently told me that I should follow the "IBS Diet" which tells you to eat mainly pasta and rice and cut out red meat, dairy products, fat, whole grains, and alcohol until you're better, and I've tried it but it doesn't seem to be working. In fact, nothing seems to be working--I've tried eating fiber, I've tried not eating fiber. I've tried cutting out dairy. I've tried limiting fat intake. Aaargggh! I'm starting to get worried that maybe my doctor's diagnosis wasn't accurate. Has anyone else ever had symptoms like these?
