Hello everyone,
I haven't posted in a while, and the last time I was here I had a colonoscopy and was told I had Ulcerative Colitis. Well, since then I got really bad and lost a lot of blood and ended up 8 days in the hospital. I got out last Monday and I am still in poor shape. I almost went into cardiac arrest that's how bad it got. Now I am trying to regain my strength and get well again. I am on Asacol and Prednisone and I am constinitly weak and fatique. I have no problems during the day but at night I am up going to the bathroom all the time. I am down to 100lbs and I am finding it impossible to eat. I can't stomach the bland food diet for one more day! And with Thanksgiving in a few days I don't know what I am going to do. Does anyone have any suggestions for making it through Thanksgiving without missing out on the whole holiday? Any suggestions for getting myself back to normal? I am finding it hard to live life this way and the GI doctors say I will be back to normal in no time but I just can't picture it!
TIA!

Hang in there, it does get better.
Thanks Lynn,
I am taking 60mg a day of the prednisone. I am going back to the doctor tomorrow because of the sleep thing. But I really have no appetite except for things that I can't eat right now like fruits and veggies. My doctor says I will be able to eat them normally but I just can't see my stomach being able to take that.
Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, with UC it can be a slow process getting back to normal. I know when I have a flareup=== fruits, veggies are the first things to go --- bland food here I come.
Hopefully the Dr. gave you something to help you sleep --- the prednisone is what is keeping you awake most likely ---- the prednisone can really wreak havoc on you. Hopefully you will be able to taper down and come off of it soon.
I hope you are starting to feel better now.
Hugs
Ellen
Hey Lauren,
What did the doctor have to say??
Hey Lynn,
Well I am not sure if I mentioned but the dr suggested the Remicade infusions for me. I go back on Monday for a TB test and to tell him if I decieded to do it. I am feeling a lot better today, probably the best in a while. But I want to go off the steriods so I am going to probably go on the Remicade. Have you heard anything about this medicine? Do you think it's a safe idea?
Thanks!

Hey Lauren,
Just like any other drug, there are the possibility of problems.
