Hi. I just found out my gallbladder is not functioning properly and my dr recommends I have it removed. I just had a baby 5 months ago, which he thinks caused this. Anyone else going through this?

Been there, done that! ;O) I had a bunch of stomach issues while I was pregnant with my son(he is now 17 months). After he was born I had an ultrasound which showed an inflamed GB wall and polyps. I had a Hida Scan done which came back normal--surprisingly. I had my GB removed in March. Dr. said alot of times pregnancy can bring on GB problems. Unfortunatly alot of my stomach issues remained after removal because I also have Gastritis. The surgery is simple and recovery quick if it is done laparoscopically(sp?).
Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply! Sorry you still have stomach problems...may I ask what your symptoms are? I really believe I have something else going on with my stomach too. Did taking your GB out relieve any symptoms?

Before my GB was removed I had nausea, heartburn, and pain under my right rib cage that would radiate to my back between my shoulder blades. The pain under the rib cage and shoulder blades is gone--although I do still experience odd pains here and there every once in a while, but nothing like before removal. The nausea and heartburn are still here probably because of my ongoing battle with gastritis. It is getting better though---slowly!

Glad it is getting better!!

My other pain is on my left side, so most likely stomach related. I meet with the surgeon this morning...hopefully will schedule surery soon.

I can't wait to start eating like a normal person again!!

Donna,

Yes, it does sound like gastritis. Especially the full feeling stomach and burping. I have been struggling with gastritis for a LONG time. I have good days and bad days. More good days. I find that eating bland foods help alot. When I "slip" and eat something greasy, spicy then I can count on a flare-up that day or within the next couple days. Not fun at all. I remember we were both going through almost the same things at the same time. Glad to hear your GB problems have settled down. I am still dealing with nausea, cramping and diarrhea after eating anything fatty. I am one of the unlucky few I guess ;o)

Donna,

Yes, I do get that lump in the throat feeling. I actually looked it up one day out of curiousity and it is called "Globus Sensation" or something similar. My dr. said sometimes it is related to stress and anxiety. He also said it is a symptom of a Thyroid problem. I had my thyroid checked because that runs in my family but all was well there. As for being winded--I don't have that problem when talking, but I do get winded and faint feeling walking up the stairs or getting up too quickly. And the fatigue I have been having is horrible!!! I can sleep 24 hours straight and still be exhausted. I am going back to my Dr. sometime in the near future as I am still having a few problems.
