endoscopy results, still no answer...

So I had the endoscopy done before Christmas...the MD saw " mild gastritis"...
I stopped all medications, as I started to feel better by the New Year.

Had about 10 days of feeling great, 100% normal, then a day or 2 of not, etc...

I was due for my annual physical on Tuesday. The MD knew what had been going on, and after he found out that the sypmtoms came back, he ordered a CA 125 blood test as well as a vaginal us all to rule out Ovarian Cancer...HE also ordered an abdominal US to r/o gallstones.

Naturally, the only thing I can focus on is the Ovarian Cancer thing.

I'm, a bit freaked out, and have to wait until Monday for the test.

ANyone have any thoughts?
Do you think this could still be a GI issue?
Is this the way it would present?

Thanks for any thoughts, I'm just a bit nervous over here and could really use the info...

Thanks Lynn,

Got the results of the CA 125...thank GOd it's 9, and normal is less than 35.
I'm still having the vaginal US on Monday, though...I want to be as close to 100% sure as I can.

I'm also having the gallbladder checked via US on Thursday.
Do you think that could be it?
Many of my friends keep saying that is what it sounds like?

I don't know.

All I know is if I eat 3 meals,or if I eat a little too much, or if I wait too long to eat and I am very hungry, I feel like I have a brick in my tummy...for a lot of the day.

If I eat small frequent meals, I do ok.

Ginger tea helps, and drinking water helps...Exercising helps, and when at night, my stomach feels yuck, I eat some saltines, and it makes me feel better enough to fall back to sleep...

It's pretty frustrating not to know, but it helps to know what it isn't ( cancer...)

Any thoughts?

I'm seeing another GI specialist to get a 2nd opinion on Thursday afternoon...if anyonw has any ideas or things I should ask, I would be so greatful!!!

Thanks again for the support ....this is a wonderful place!1

Lynn,

THose are amazing questions!! THank you!!

I also wanted to add to that, what will he do if all the tests come back normal?
And, what OTC meds can I take to alleviate ehatever the symptoms are, as they change on a daily basis.
Like today, for instance, I that " diarrhea" feeling all day, and I would love to take some Pepto, but I don't know if that will help or hurt, and I am so nervous about taking anything, I just want to wait to talk to him.

As for the ulcer, how do they check that?
My husband just said that to me again today.

I was describing to him that I hadn't eaten lunch and my stomach feels almost burning, and I feel lightheaded.
After I finished ( chicken ), I feel better ( not lightneaded ) and the burning and sick empty feeling goes away.
The thing is sometimes that feeling goes away, and seomtimes it goes straight to that unbearable heavy, full feeling....

I don't know, this is getting me annoyed....I just want answers-you know ?

Thanks for listening to my whine session.

I'm going away with my husband for the first time in 10 years in 2 weeks and I just want to feel good!!!

Hi Jane, I am dealing with a similar issue for the last 2 months. What is the pain like after you eat something fatty vs something lean (chicken, turkey, rice)? When your stomach is empty, do you feel a sensation? Where is the pain exactly?

They look for ulcers during your endoscopy, did your dr say anything about that? If not, I would ask him.

I have had catscans, a hida scan (gallbladder test), endoscopy and now this week go for a barium xray of my colon. So far the only thing they have found is my gallbladder is not functioning properly. I have good days and bad, today is particularly bad. However, I have not eaten anything fatty in over a month. I have gallbladder surgery scheduled for next month.

Hi! I'm new to these message boards. Your story sounds similar to mine. Mine started with gastritis and "IBS". Regardless of what I did, medication, exercise, diet, I never felt better. I started then making my doctor giving me tests on disorders that could duplicate these symptoms since at that point I was going on my third year of misery. I was checked for a vitamin B 12 deficiency, I had a CA 125 test and then eventually a cat scan. I had an endoscopy, a colonoscopy and some Ultra sounds. The only test that seemed fishy was my hida scan. My ejection fraction of my gallbladder was 92%. Normal goes up to 75%. So I finally went to a surgeon and low and behold, my gallbladder was inflammed and it had adhered to my abdominal wall. The night of my surgery I had never felt better. Please don't get scared, or lose hope. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hang in there.

Hi! Wow this is such a great network. I finally don't feel so alone. Yes, I was doing AWESOME after my gallbladder came out in February of 2005. Since October, I started having pains where my gallbladder used to be. My doctor told me it was just scar tissue being shed. Well as time went on, the pains came more frequent especially after I ate. Then the pains that radiated to my right shoulder was coming as well as just the gross feeling in my stomach after I eat. Then having insane diarrhea. Tomorrow I meet with a new gastroenterologist to see if I need an ERCP along with a new colonoscopy. My doctor is suspecting pancreatitis, colitis, and a possible sphincter of oddi dysfunction. Fun, fun, fun. Oh well, life continues. I apologize for my rambling, but for once it is SOOOOOOO nice being able to vent my frustrations and I know that whoever is reading this truly understands how I feel. This place is truly a blessing. Thank you guys so much. Take care.
