I have been having GERD and gastritis and other problems for a year or so now, and today i am having the dreaded symptoms again of what's wrong with my stomach. This morning I woke feeling great, I have just gotten over my period. I ate breakfast and that's when everything began. After breakfast it started off with twinges around the stomach area, and a little bit of pain if i was bent over or if i stood up too fast, i know that sounds wierd but bear with me. I took my daughter to preschool, and went to the grocery store with my 3 year old daughter, and my stomach felt odd, like it was gtrowling, and I felt like I had hunger pains, and i was like wow I must be hungry today. I came home and started eating, after i finished a cesar chicken wrap, and had some cheese its my stomach started burning, and growling, like I was hungry again, and i waited, then 5 minutes later felt nauseated, i felt like i was gonna hurl. I just sat down and waited, then the hunger pains came again, and I felt like I was losing it because i had just eaten huge lunch. Then it went from hunger pains, to a stomach ache, then back to hunger pains. It keeps coming and going, and I am not sure if i should eat, wait it out, to another protonix pill, or what? So, I went to go pick up my daughter and feelings just keep coming back, it goes from hunger pains, to growling to upset stomach back to nausea. I was in the library afgter I picked up my daughter and I started to feel really sick, like I was not well, accompanying with almost pretty bad stomach pains, and now that I'm home my stomach is going through the whole thing again????? I am just confused what this is, because it's bothering me. I have eaten a little bit and what happens is I'll get the hunger pains, growling stomach, eat and then get the nauseated feeling, and stomach ache.

what the heck is going on?? it's bothering me!! For the record i don't have ulcers, I've had an upper endoscopy, barium tests, Ctscans, and that's about it, and all have told me I have GERD. Any suggestions????? It would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Jessica

Well, it seems I don't have a doctor anymore, I have a nurse, and that guy has no idea what he's talking about, he thins I have IBS, which I don't, and he refuses to get a colonoscopy done. I have tried calling and asking for a real dotor but was told i have to wait 3 months to see one?!?!?! which is ridiculous, obviously. Not sure what else to do? I have tried the aloe vera juice but it makes my stomach sting, and my throat not good for me. I do drink chamomille tea, but again, it only relieves my symptoms temporarily. If I had a chance I would probably drink it all day LOL. Then again if I want relief I drink that tea.

What is a probitoic???

I think I may call and ask if i can be transfered or referred to someone else?? I hate coming on here and complaining as well. I feel bad about doing this, but I have to let someone know whats going on!!!

Hi Jess. I'm Tiffany. I'm kind of new to these message boards. Please, vent as much as you need. Sometimes I think its these people here who are the only ones who understand. I have been given the run around and was told for three years I had IBS. I'm sure I do to some degreee, however I had a severe gallbladder problem that went unnoticed by my docs for three years. According to them, it was IBS. After colonoscopy, endoscopy, ultra sounds, cat scan, hida scans, I finally met with a surgeon and out came the gallbladder. I too had gastritis. Its not fun. It too disappeared when my gallbladder came out. One suggestion I have for you (besides getting a new doctor) is enteric coated peppermint capsules. Peppermint helped sooth much of my stomach upsets or whatever. Gastritis is such a finnicky problem. I do know that salt irritates the heck out of it as well. Another thing to make sure is did they test you for the heliobacter bacteria when they did your endoscopy? That is definitely worth checking in to. I have heard that will make you miserable but yet a simple cure of antibiotics. I hope you too will find digestive harmony. Take care.

thanks so much for writing to me, that was sweet. I thought I was doing well, today, until I started getting nauseated, and i just dryheaved, yuck. I called my doctor's office, and told them the nurse practitioner sucks basically, and I need to see a new doctor, someone who knows what they are doing??? I am scared about this because last time i had a severe stomach pains, I had gotten sick, with stomach aches the week before just like now! I looked up my symptoms, and they are pointing to ulcers.

Now, when they did the endoscopy, yes they also tested me for cancer and H plyori bacteria, and it came back negative I don't have the bacteria at all. that was the first thing they wanted to know. They did check my gallbladder and of course everything turned out fine, of course. The nurse practitioner did laugh at me, not in a mean way and said you just have a mysterious stomach issue, hahahah. I was not laughing with him and nether was my husband. We did not find that amusing.

So when i was telling the receptionist, she started to laugh and said okay, tell me your name, and I did so March 10th at 10:00 am I see a new doctor. Ha, complain enough and you shall recieve. LOL

I agree with the other that posted about gastritis being a pain. I have had it for almost a year now and I get the same symptoms as you described--the hunger, growling, eat something then nauseated. Like a big vicious circle. I found that eliminating anything irritating to the stomach--greasy, fatty, spicy, caffeine, salt--helps keep my stomach "calm". Anything that will "sit" in my stomach and take forever to digest like fat I avoid altogether. I sometimes wonder if the gastritis will ever go away! It has calmed down quite a bit the last month but every now and then I get a "flare-up" with the hunger, nausea, etc.
I think alot of people have to deal with an idiot dr. before they come across a dr. willing to listen and not say "it's IBS" or "it's all in your head".

Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Donna M

PS. Feel free to vent--we all do it! LOL

Hey Jess,

Probiotics are dietary supplements containing potentially beneficial bacteria and yeasts.

Wow thanks for the info, I will look into it, anything at this point I am willing to do. Yeah last night was pretty bad, I got heartburn half the night took tums, and drank two glasses of chamomile tea. I also ended up getting a bad stomach ache so i took some belladonna, and that calmed my heartburn and stomach ache. The bad thing is that I can't take it during the day it makes you sleepy and fast. You also wake up with a huge headache in the morning, I only take it when i GET HIT PRETTY BAD. So, I made a doctors appt, for march 10th, and I may ask if I can change meds, the protonix seemed to wokr really well for a long time but I'm getting heartburn and such back. That's the only problem the meds only work for a few months then they stop working and I have to change it. It's a bummer!! :(
